Now now. You registered with a US based IP address and a US based email address with a male's name. I think it's pretty easy to understand why it might beg question. I wasn't rude or accusatory and simply stated that your registration didn't match your location.

If you found my simple inquiry offensive for some reason then I apologize.

Uh oh.    Now look what you did.    You caused Bradon to use the dreaded "Now Now".

Luckily, for us all, he has exceptional self-restraint.  Dear (insert gender appropriate title )Swenson, I suggest you not tempt fate - he has similar and more forceful words at his disposal.

Great.  It turns out "Carrissa" is the dreaded "Sonar Stalker".  (S)he's obviously trolling here for some unsuspecting tech geek\Coffee House Band member from which to extract elements of musical genious and\or ways to make V-Vocal do that "Sher" thing.

Or she knows what Am really sounds like and is on a mission to stop the madness that the CHB's bass player is doing to run the great name of Am into the mud.

In other words, he/she's here to stop Bapu from diminishing the Am.

Hi all,

To address a couple of the consistent themes a bit ....

I am aware of parallels between microcosms and the greater population, but I don't tie my thinking to correlations so much.  I feel that smaller social entities take on idiosyncrasies that do not mimic the whole, at times.  I am a member of fora for ProTools and two other DAWs, and they are nothing like the forum in which I originally posted this.  There seem to be very quirky things going on.   I would say that each of us can decide whether a little spot like this is a good place to chat without contriving an imperative to "deal with it" based on social analogy.  In other words, folks should face up to courtesy, kindness and community here because it ISN'T the back alley of an urban jungle.

For those who asked, I am a music instructor, specializing in composition and arrangement.  We use ProTools in the class and studio, but most of the students can't or don't choose to afford such and the related hardware, so they use what they choose and I hear about it.  I use Sonar 8.5.3 so far, about 1/3 of the time that I am doing personal projects.

I got a dry private message from one of the moderators here, Brandon, yesterday, questioning my address and such via, I'm assuming, his ability to see my IP address when I post.  I spend about 1/3 of my time in America (Ohio), and indeed one of the reasons that I wrote this post was related to my experiences in bouncing between my homes.  Having my whereabouts/origins questioned was just another brick in that pile, if you know what I mean.  Next month I can post from Sweden or one of the other countries in which I travel and work and then the diligent moderators can get back to Sonar questions and technical support -- or at least addressing the content of a post instead of policing the messenger.

I WILL post here more, for those of you who have seen that as prudent and worthwhile.

ya this is all making sence now..once i read pro tools i just stopped reading.okay.all done

+1

Common courtesy is providing a handful of posts yet being highly critical of the forums demeanour?

May I suggest climbing off your high horse and joining in and rather than generalizing on the whole, commenting on specifics. Unless of course it is your aim to lead us all into the greater civil utopia our current ignorance blinds us too.

I'm assuming you can see things other than the brilliance of your own reflection when I say welcome to the Coffee House.

You'd be on better footing explaining how the correlation of post-quantity to license-to-criticize works.  Obviously, it doesn't.  I've not posted here for the very reason that my current post defines.

You see, it is comments just like yours that I address -- no matter what the literary level -- which come from spiteful minds with little apparent value other than to vent personal angst or harm another.    Where does the sarcasm and scorn come from, and why does it belong here?

For me to be on a "high horse" in your mind because I note, carefully and with qualification, that some are bitter is an inappropriate bit of slashing.  Where does that come from in you, in particular?  Why do you soil this place with such a dark tongue?  How would your attitude improve this forum?

Say in retort what clever things you may, but just for this one instance, address the core question.  Why do you attack the person who doesn't attack you?

... do you know who this reminds me of, and somebody is going to have to refresh my memory on this one ... that dude / chick that was a frequent poster in the CH that had a movie actress as his / her avitar.  The individual left awhile back under cloudy circumstances after folks started questioning if he / she was a gender bender.

Frankly, (not a reference to any particular 300lb truck driver who sometimes just wants to feel pretty) I'm far more concerned about this really tall horse.  It's just standing here in the Coffee House, looking down on folks.  The really alarming thing, though, is that it's facing away from my table and the tail is over my head.
