Karyn, your photoshop skills are exquisite!!! Could I send you a picture of myself, and you could make me handsome and suave and debonair like Bapu?

I think she did say something about being all over the map once..

That didn't come out right...

...or did it?

The thing is that to take 'Jessie Sammler' as an example I generally enjoyed his/her posts most of the time, even the characterization was fun.  I mean really in case nobody realises my real name isn't Jonbouy.  I guess in the end though JS jumped ship because of the deciet and pretence of trying to appear to be something he wasn't becoming a chore.

I don't suppose many of us really respond to the avatar or nick (although 7 pages here may indicate otherwise.) so I don't really buy the personal attack thing as being valid much of the time.  I just either agree, disagree, am interested, disinterested in the content of the posts.

It goes without saying that I'm not qualified to attack a person on account of their forum account because most of the time I don't know them.

Of course I like certain people on account of what they tend write and others I may not like as much for the same reasons.

I didn't like the OP simply because I didn't agree with it, and although there is a great deal of frustration going on surrounding DAW 2.0 I don't think it is detrimental to the forum, the product or the world climate.

Most of it is understandable being as many have spent good money on what appears to still be a turkey.  Constant denial, or at least a non-commital stance surrounding the latest release from the vendor, some weird kind of blind brand-loyaty from a certain populous of the forum and a concerted effort by many frustrated users to get various issues addressed is my view on what the current forum demeanour is about.

All in all the current climate here is understandable not because the membership consists of savage low-life, I will defend my point until the end that this place is full of good people, help, care, humour, creativity and positivity and any dissassociated member coming in for a cheap swipe is unlikely to be very well recieved.

Had the OP come in and stated what her view of the forum was rather than what was wrong with us all I'd have probably agreed for the very reasons given above.

And for the record here's the original impressions of the forum I had when I joined in.

Carissa I'm sure has plenty to offer this place so I say again welcome to the Coffee House, no need to be aloof just join in.

As always, Jon has framed the issue intelligently, though I personally prefer it when he's being funny

I tend to take people at face value (bad choice of words here perhaps), which is to say that I kind of assume they are who they say they are.  So, however naive it may seem, I assume Carissa is Carissa, and that is her image in the avatar.  This is somewhat remarkable (to me at least) because I'm sort of a cynic by nature.

That Carissa gave us another excellent first post. She/he seemed to be all over the map though. Glendale, Ohio, Sweden, Grzylyrg, The UK?

The UK?

Where's that?

Is it that funny shaped island off the coast of Belgium?

When the nature of a forum becomes clique-and-buddy oriented, abusive and disrespectful as this forum has, then all of you have a real problem to deal with.....and in general a thick, repulsive buddy system of snobbery and rejection of others that makes this place similar to standing in the playground area of a juvenile detention center
Of course, I'm not talking about many, many of the kind, productive contributors here, and I'm sure they aren't offended. I'm talking to the armchair brave who snip and quip at others whom they would well not treat in such a manner if personally present.

Regardless of who wrote these words, the message is powerful.

Look back at the comments of responders and you'll get a pretty good idea of what 'Clarissa' is saying in the original post.

Danny, Humble Noise, and four or five other members were respectful and then the 'funny' remarks begin; three pages of them
(mostly by high post count members)

When you're the 'new kid on the block' and you hear a group of people laughing you tend to think they're laughing at you;

Of course YMMV here.

Since when did a post count, high or low have a bearing on what is being said?

You agree with Carissa, I don't.

Simple as that. Where was I disrespectful to anyone?

On the other hand this was pretty much dismissive of everyone here that didn't agree with her original assertions.

Fire away at this post, weak ones, but know for certain that your demeanor repels valuable people from contributing to this forum, and thusly hurts the product and its user-base in the short, mid and long run.

One thing I really like about Cakewalk it that they conspicously allow a much wider range of freedom of points of view on the forum than many users would like to have imposed on it.

That is much to their credit.

Too many advocate freedom of speech providing you say what they want to hear, or they want the freedom to be the forum police.
