Jon: You agree with Carissa, I don't.

I find some truth in parts of the message, yes.
I just have a problem when we attack the messenger instead of the message.

Jon: Where was I disrespectful to anyone?
I wasn't referring to you Jon, why would you think I was?
You have been very respectful in the posts that I have read.

Jon: On the other hand this was pretty much dismissive of everyone here.
If you are referring to my post, you are reading something that was not intended.
Even Clarissa's post paid homage to the helpful, courteous people.

One thing I really like about Cakewalk it that they conspicously allow a much wider range of freedom of points of view on the forum than many users would like to have imposed on it.

That is much to their credit.

Too many advocate freedom of speech providing you say what they want to hear, or they want the freedom to be the forum police.
I support you saying that but I don't like how you said it.  Not exactly what I wanted to hear.  I should be able to ban you.

Now.....I'm irritated.

No Tom the quote was pulled from Carissa's OP it has been the message I've had issue with, although I can understand the sentiments it contains, for as far as I know I could be talking to Elton John.

Go sit in the corner until you've calmed down!

Round room?  Then, you're safe.  When going around corners, I usually expect to hear, "It's pitch dark.  You have been eaten by a grue."

I don't know, Jon, sounds like circular reasoning to me.

See.  I told you the thread police would show up for going "off topic" just because it was sent to the CH!  you guys never learn!

oh - and sounds like we're being attacked for having high post counts.  imagine that.  so those who have high post counts are discriminated against in a post which the user is complaining that we shouldn't attack someone.  oh what irony.

FWIW, I have personally not attacked anyone in this thread.  I have discussed things as they happen and flowed with the natural flow of this thread.  I have agreed that Carissa has some valid points regarding the state of complaining in the X1 forum.  I have stated that I also think he/she is approaching the solution incorrectly and that she didn't even propose a solution, she just came to complain - like those she is complaining about.  see the irony there that I do?

Great.  Now I have Cheap Trick's "Thread Police" running on a loop in my head.

By the way, does referring to our posts as 'funny', does that mean that we're not as humorous as we think we are?  I wouldn't know, since I'm Thick and Repulsive.  While I don't have a high post count, I believe that my posts are no more insightful or relevant than any of theirs.  In fact, I'd go so far as to say that mine are of no discernable value whatsoever.

I would hope that anyone venturing into the Coffee House would find the same sense of nonsense, foolishness, and harmless 'fun' for all, regardless of post count or X1 affiliation.  I believe we normally go out of our way to welcome newcomers to our midst (or our mist).

If someone wants to have nothing but serious discussions with serious people about serious matters, this may not be the right venue.  Seriously.
