I think I mentioned it before that some people are happy with change others aren't. I have known people to rant and rave about how many bugs are in X1 then I see them write that 8.5.3 had so many bugs which they could live with. Truth si they have always lived with bugs in the software nothing has changed there.

I guess impatience can be a deciding factor at times...I have no qualms with anyone in these forums and for the most part I cant afford to stress myself over a few pixels on a LCD screen. If I was making millions with Sonar maybe that would be different but the truth of the matter is I am not...upgrading, cross grading doesn't mean a thing to me.

What actually does matter, is what is happening in the world and how it affects me and the people I love and the people I don't really love.

+1...great post..

Carissa, I think your post is both insightful and accurate. Most of us IMO do not understand or underestimate the effect we have on the world and within this forum, so we see a lot of overstated and many times inappropriate posts.

Another thing that makes a forum unique is that we are not actually communicating with another human being. There's no one really there, so you can't see facial expressions, feel emotions and all the other things that go with really talking with someone else.

Given that, many posts get misinterpreted like the one above for example. It's inevitable but we forget that and take things verbatum on a forum.

In real one on one communication it's way more important HOW you say something than what you say. Here on a forum there's very little 'how' and almost all 'what' so we're misunderstood MOST of the time. That creates these really weird battles that come out of nowhere, but again are inevitable because no one is really there to figure out how they're saying something.

If any of that is true, it's also true that the more objective, helpful posters that occupy this board the more the tenor may change for the better.

So I echo the invite that you might post here a little more and see if you don't have a positive effect on the forum.

great post larry..as youve made that same impact on me..if it werent for you id be wearing a darth vader mask.
because its easy to be impressionable when you first come in here..all i was reading were negetive posts..heck i thought thats what i supposed to be doing as well.what i didnt like was the change..having to learn..now that half that battle is gone.i find x1 to be one of the most power daw's on the market.so your post not only speaks volumes..im an example.

Carissa,  this forum can be completely vicious at times.  I've been brutally attacked here on more than one occasion and it's caused me to stop posting here as much as I did when I first became a user of Sonar.   All in all,  I do believe that if you come here looking for help,  there are people here that are willing to lend a helping hand.  If you come here with the intent to vent your frustrations about bugs,  you will find a shoulder to cry on,   and if you come here looking for an argument,  you're guaranteed to get one.

The forum is just a microcosm of society itself.  If you don't let the negative conditions of society get you down in real life,  then don't let the negative conditions of this forum keep you away.

Remember,  life is what you make it.

Is this another one of those "blame the customer" threads? Maybe if the OP knew the full history then the frustration that some of us are experiencing would be better understood. I have been a customer and supporter of Cakewalk for almost 20 years now. It isn't fun to watch Sonar go into a self-destruct mode.

I think the deciding factor will come over the next 6 months dont you Silk Tone?

Honestly, do you think that Roland has made a significant contribution either good or bad?

I would like to hear the opinions, maybe not in this Utopian thread maybe in another angry passive thread. Maybe?

Well...If you interpret it as such, maybe so, but when you see people threatening others with physical harm...I think that just might be crossing that line just a little bit...don't you think?
