I even have my window open a crack and am sitting here in shorts and t-shirt. I don't know what kind of unholy magic keeps my apartment warm but I haven't had the heating on since I shut the radiators off 2 years ago and I've never once felt cold. But boy when I lean out of the window, it's COLD out there.

I love this weather. Once it gets into negative digits Fahrenheit it feels so good to be outside all wrapped up warm in thermals, down jacket, hat and scarf. So crispy cold and refreshing. If I had a choice between a constant freeze and a constant humid summer, there would be no competition. There's something about this cold which makes me feel alive; something about the humid summer which makes me feel dead.

That's mighty cold sharke! You must be sitting on top of someone else's heater!  Sounds like you are comfortable though.

Yeah I think the fact that I'm on the top floor has something to do with it. I must be getting other people's heat. I'm so glad I don't have to turn the heating on - we have old radiators in this building that are either fully on or off, nothing in between. And on is so oppressively hot and dry that it makes me sick. I end up having to open all the windows, which I don't want to do because I run an air cleaner in here.

I never really minded the cold either Sharke, but can't stand the extreme heat.

It's awful. Dry heat is bearable but there's nothing nice at all about humidity and high temps.

Indeed, I made this mistake of taking my honeymoon in July, to Jamaica, without AC. It was like some old Pacific war movie. Never been able to take the sun since.

I'll let you have the cold. Try starting an IV when your own hands are frozen, or extricate someone from a car in a snowbank where the road is a sheet of ice. Or rolling up hose that is froze solid from a hydrant that looks like an ice sculpture. Not to mention your own body feeling like an ice statute with the icicles hanging down from your helmet.

Nope, let the global warming begin

Rain
I see friends back in Quebec complaining about the cold daily. With reason.
Windchill of -33C this morning.
Those winters seem so surrealistically long seen from here.
Around here, I can't even put a jacket on.

"Winter" seems to have lasted a few days - last week of December to be precise.
I couldn't go back.

I hear ya Rain.

My favorite temperatures range from 30-60 degree's.  Northern MN had those extreme Canadian-like temperatures as well.  I don't particularily like those extreme cold snaps, anything below zero is going into my discomfort zone.  However, anything over 95 degrees is worse to me.  Summers here in TX are brutal for me, with most days cooling down to 95 degrees at about 9pm in the evening.  I am 6'-4, 225lbs, and sweat easily.  I spend half my summer soaked.  It's that Scandinavian blood, I guess.
