Hello Beepster!

I would love to work with you!
To be honest, I probably shouldn't open up as much as I do in my apartment, but I do anyways and hope for the best! It's surprising, sometimes, what we do for our art.

Oh, and for everyone out there, I'm going to add a link to my music project's Youtube channel in my original post. I tend to upload tests and things of that nature there, so you can sometimes get to hear what I'm currently working on.
I'll also include a link to that in this post, as well.

Along those same lines, I'll be uploading something shortly from the newest album I'm working on, say within the next few minutes, so if you want to hear something more current, that'll be a good opportunity.

In the past I just made sure I had a good relationship with my neighbors and worked out what the least intrusive times of the day would be for my musical shenanigans. I got away with full on band rehearsals that way. Here I just can't be really bothered and have no interest in being the known resident music guy. Too much work and studying to do so I don't need the hassle of being "the cool guy on floor x". People generally like musicians and they like being given the respect of having someone ask what they find tolerable and when. I'm like that by nature anyway but those simple courtesies seem to really make people much more accepting of musical noise.

It goes from "Gatdamn! That weirdo is caterwauling AGAIN!!" to "Oh, that nice musical fellow is diligently working on his craft... and look at that. He's doing it within the time frame we previously established. How could I be mad? I think I'll bake him some cookies."

May the road rise to meet you... nothing is impossible except the thing that you don't have the audacity to try to do.

Hello Jbow!

Thanks, and I agree completely! =)

That does sound like a good idea, Beepster, but a lot of work!
I do my best to keep everything between daylight hours, keeping the loudest bits between times I'm sure others are awake. They never have brought it up, so I feel safe in assuming that they're either too nice to complain, or aren't bothered by it. My apartment building isn't too close together, either, so I'm sure that helps.

My son is a drummer and i occasionally mix at home along with playing instruments loudly.  i typically try to play at reasonable hours and i go talk to my neighbors first.  they are always cool about it.  i let them know if they need to sleep or if i am disturbing anyone, i will stop immediately if they let me know.  the answer is always a smile and thanks for letting them know.
