My post on KVR speaks directly to this price comparison and why it is disparate (numbered list post).

How about speaking directly to us Sonar users and address the topic here (you know, since the question is in this forum) while not directing everyone away to another site?

First, ST 3 at $349 is laughable IMO....when for $50 more (RETAIL)
you can get a REAL Sampler (Kontakt - not ROMPLER - ST), and THAT get's you an upgrade
path to Komplete and K-U.

Then you have the samples that were "10 years in the making" ...also laughable...
hardly anything worthy of "praise" that's for sure, compared to others that are even less
pricey...the samples are ok...but not "WOW"...sorry...

IMO, ST 3 is at the most a $149 product...and Sample packs should be priced at like
$49 max...

THIS IS JUST MY OPINION....so don't throw things...I know many of you love it....
I had it...I got rid of it...it really didn't do "anything" to warrant that kind of price.
The absolute BEST THING about it was that it allowed me to use all my existing ST samples
in a 64 bit host.

Fortunately for me, I got what I paid for it back when I sold it...

All things considered...after 10 years of waiting and listening to all the BS along the way...
to me..it's a joke...and not a funny one...

Well it would seem that the IK versions contain loops. 800 Audio loops in the case Neil Peart Kit which are not in the BFD or Kontakt versions. While this would not make it more appealing to me some people will like it. It has always been a bit of a disapointment to me that Sonic Reality did Audio Grooves rather than much more versatile MIDI grooves.

Edit - 400 Audio Grooves in the Billy Cobham library

The Sonic Reality versions are not cheaper. The SampleTank 3 version contains the kit samples + loops, all in one product. To get the same Neil Peart content from SR, you would have to buy 3 products: the kit samples + 2 loop titles for a total of $167. To get the same Billy Cobham content, you would have to buy the full EpiK DrumS product (available for Kontakt only) which is $299.  I hope that clarifies the answer to that question more.

My reply above should suffice now, I hope.  I was mobile at the time so I figured at least some information would be useful.  In the future I will wait until I can be as verbose as necessary.

I tried it again, and indeed something appears to have been fixed: it took less than a minute to initialize the CS, pull up the Neil Peart page and play a sample. It sounds great.

I wish Toontrack or xln Audio would make a Neil Peart kit. I have the Session Drummer 3 version, but I don't care much for SSD3. I will see Rush next Friday night for the opening night of the R40 tour...hopefully they won't completely retire, but it sounds like the big tours are over.

I hear ya talkin'...but all I hear is blah blah blah...

I have the Kontakt kit...and I guarantee you the IK one doesn't come close...

But, as with everything, that's subjective....LOL

Am I equally lucky to have seen them on the 2112 tour?  1976, I think.  One could have created a large NP sample library just from his lengthy drum solo.  If samplers had been around back then.

Cheers,
Eddie
