Reminds me of all those delusional tone-deaf big heads who audition for shows like American Idol and X Factor. They barge into the audition room like stroppy two-year-olds and announce that they ARE the best singer the judges are about to hear and they WILL achieve international stardom. What follows is usually mediocre at best, excruciatingly painful at worst. Then when Simon Cowell pricks their bubbles they lose the plot and often have to be removed by security. Kayne West is a very mediocre talent who dines out on the mediocrity of public taste. A few new slots become available each year and they're generally filled by whomever gets there first.

The pronunciation always confuses me...

Is it Con-yay?

Is it Cane-eee?

Is it Can-I?

Is it Can-ya?

If it's the latter two... the answer is... no. No you can't.

/knows it's Con-yay

I think I have a mild form of dyslexia because I always read his name as "Kayne" instead of "Kanye." Therefore it's always been pronounced "Kane" in my head, and it's not likely to change anytime soon. Since I only ever read about this jerk online and don't watch TV, I don't hear how it's supposed to sound.

I don't care for Kanye as a personality or performer, but Kanye got where is for reasons that go way beyond insulting the general public. Kanye is a very gifted producer of hip-hop who toiled in the shadows cranking out commercial and non-commercial material considered among the best in the genre long before he found fame as a rapping douchebag. Of course those who hate hip-hop consider that insignificant, but it's no less true.

That's how I first read it years ago. Then I undyslexified it and thought it was "Can-eye". Then I heard it pronounced on TV somewhere as Con-yay. Just more silly AWing.

I'd pay good money to see Prince slap the shiz out of the guy.

...and just imagine what James Brown would do to this mofo if he were still alive. Yikes. May he Rest In Funk.

I love good hip hop. I can even tolerate some of the ridiculous boasting if it's good enough. When the boasting drowns out the music though... somethin' ain't right.

PE spoiled me I think.

This whole lack of respect thing reminded of something I read recently about Dave Grohl paying hommage to Dimebag Darrell...

" There was an Ozzfest in England in 1998, and Korn canceled. So we got the call. It was Slayer, Pantera and Black Sabbath. We had to go on after Pantera. I was so terrified: ‘There’s gonna be a riot. I’m gonna get drawn and quartered. No one’s going to like our band.’

But we played, and I looked to the side. The guys from Pantera are watching us and singing the lyrics to our songs. Afterwards we made friends with Pantera. I was nervous and scared; I didn’t think I fit in. But they were so open to us. That backstage hospitality we try to have – it all came from Pantera. Dimebag Darrell was the nicest f–king guy in the world. He could walk in and do a shot of Crown Royal with Justin Bieber, with Rick Nielsen, with James Brown – he was everybody’s best friend. And you could feel that energy when he was playing.

After that day, I was like, ‘From now on, everybody’s allowed in this room. I don’t care if it’s Britney Spears.’ I became the backstage best friend. Whenever I showed up at a festival, the first thing I’d do is grab a bottle of whiskey and go knocking on doors to see who the funniest people are. You’d be surprised who the real f–king nutcases are."

I found that genuinely talented people are often inclined to that type of behaviour.

K West is still a tool though.

Can not think of what use this tool could be put use for though, it is a tough one.

Maybe it could be wedged under a tire to keep a vehicle from rolling backwards?
