I'd never do that eyebrow trimming thingy......I'm not old, but old fashioned and like the natural look. Ever since I bought my own clippers (7 years ago), I've saved a LOT of money from going to barbershops (I do my own haircuts every 3 weeks).

I also cut my little boy's hair.......great investment.

I stopped going to those places and we're all happier as a result. I used to go the local cheap haircut establishments to be mistreated. I'd go in, watch each of the ladies attempt to choke down their bile at the thought of touching my head, and wait until the loser got stuck with me. I'd try not to react as she attempted to grasp the full impact of the horror that awaited her. "That's so gross..." I frequently heard that whispered. She'd ask me how I wanted it cut and I'd say something helpful like, "Cousin It", "Nasal Comb Over", or "I want it all in a single dreadlock. " She'd pop her gum and consider the life choices that brought her to this bitter end. Finally, she'd slap the clippers against my head and spend 40-50 seconds cutting the little bit of hair that stubbornly clung to my scalp. I usually ended up with a few cuts when she'd make sure to gouge my skin to teach me a lesson. I'd pay somewhere between $12-$15 dollars for the privilege of enjoying her service. Since I'd come back a few months later, they started raising their prices in self-defense. I decided that even though I'm not a trained professional, I could insult and ridicule myself almost as well. I bought my own shearing kit and started cutting my own hair.

Every now and then, my wife asks me if I want to go to one of those places and get a good haircut. I just straighten the nasal hair bow on the top of my head and say, "No, I've still got plenty of material."

Well for me apart from occasional trim 6 years. Now it is short damn it. I had a ring on the doorbell.. Some friends came in with a strange bloke. Later they told me he was a hairdresser. Before I knew it I was in the kitchen and the SOB was cutting my hair... It's gone damnit!

I'm off to the Philippines on the 1st.

I've been there in March a few times and each time swore "never again". In January it's quite pleasant, with temperatures in the 70's. But by March it's frickin' hot, very much like summer in Florida. Hot and muggy.

Consequently, we'll be at the beach a lot. I've put on 10 lbs since November, so I'll be reminding myself that over there fat people are assumed to be wealthy and successful. I'll tell myself I do not look like a beached whale, I look like a wealthy and successful beached whale.

Today, though, I'm walking around with a stocking cap on and a hooded sweatshirt pulled up - indoors - and the back of my neck is still cold. Next month, I'll be thinking of those poor saps in New England still digging out of the snow. Next month, I'll be congratulating myself for having the foresight to cut my hair, perhaps even contemplating a full shave.

Hi,

You're not a hippy anymore?

Wow, I thought we all wanted to hold on to something from that time! Hair is not an issue for me ... I keep it down to almost nothing!
