Personally sick of all the different threads that try to cleverly name themselves after other threads. This is a real pain in the ass and I would love to see at least that aspect of TCH stopped. It's a pain enough to go through new posts when each and every single post is considered an updated thread... it's tedium made worse when you realize the thread you're looking at isn't really the one you want. This childish (as opposed to 'child like') behavior makes it even harder.

You've been here a little over a month and you're sick of it already. What a shocking indictment of us all, lol!

For some reason I find it easy to ignore threads I don't appreciate.

Oh... you're one of 'those' people are you James? I can't believe that I'm being told that I haven't been here long enough to understand your unique clique? Because heaven forbid I should have been exposed to other forums and human psychology in my time and can then draw a conclusion about this place. But no... things are obviously very different here on the other end of the rainbow.

And no comments were directed at "us all"...  so go on... quote me Mr.Sanctimonious. Rather, comments were directed just at the children that play the silly 'name my thread like someone else's' game. Perhaps that's why you're upset... are you one of the children in question perhaps? You do actually sound more like maybe you're defending yourself in this exchange as opposed to debating the meat of the discussion. Nope... just unwarranted, random character bashing. Be careful son... you might overflow.

But don't you dare go mentioning it ever ...

Oh no.

Ostracisation can be painful, after all.

The Coffee House could (once again) be an excellent place in which to spend a bit of time, if only a handful of people stopped treating it like their own personal forum.

As to the original point about why the Coffee House rules aren't strictly enforced (in a similar way to how the other forums are now policed with a rod of iron), my guess is because so many forum hosts choose to break those rules themselves in here. By way of example, just look back through the FSF and see how many hosts have graced that particular abortion with "...senseless, inane, or empty messages...".

Dare I say it stinks of hypocrisy? Or is it another one of my conspiracy theories?

For what it's worth, I still thoroughly enjoy the company of most of those 'ordinary' forum users (excepting, of course, three particular hosts) who fall foul of Godling's accusations. It does get so very tiresome ploughing through the unfunny thread title puns and such, but I've given up whining about it any more. Better to just go with the flow and keep your head down most of the time.

Having said that, any host 'brave' enough to lock the FSF, and delete off a few of the irritating 'joke/dub' thread titles would get my vote.

Can't believe I said that.

Though there are some relatively informative threads, it never occurred to me that people could look for those in the Coffee House.

Agreed, it can be annoying at times, but I always assumed that the spirit of this place was that things are not to be taken seriously, because they're likely to take a very silly turn. It's a given and I hardly see how it could change, unless there was a major change in the users base.

Not that I wouldn't welcome that change at times, but I don't count on it.

A bit like you wouldn't walk into a McDonalds if you want to eat something healthy in a classy ambience...

Otherwise, with a bit of time, you learn to spot and stay away from certain threads.

Hey, Godling. It's fine if you don't like stream of conscious parody threads and it's fine to say so. I think they're good for a guffaw but they ain't for everyone and they are actually against the rules of many other forums.

You however have chosen to be a jackwagon about it and insult large swaths of long time members who are just having a little fun. To me that is far more annoying than some silly wordplay.

Chill out.

Personally speaking, I could go for having two Coffee House type forums.

One in which we could chat about interesting stuff, and another in which one could be as daft as you wanted.

Why not put that to Cakewalk?

But who decides what's daft and what's interesting?
