LANEY
Here's a fun website to check out http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2014/09/23/free-chorus-vst/

I case anyone's jonesin' for the much praised, highly regarded Kjaerhus Audio set of plugs, including their excellent chorus, [which I believe is one of Bits' favorites], here's a link to them on the page that LANEY supplied.

These are only 32 Bit plugs though. Shame he never kept with it.

If he would have made x64 plugs, I'm guessing he would have done quite well for himself.

I still have those and still use them.  I really like those plugins.  Also still use the Vintage Channel VC-64 that came with Sonar 6, which was basically the Kjaerhus Golden Channel.  Have the Golden Modulator, too.  It's my still my "go to" modulation plugin.

I, too, still use the Kjaerhus Classic Chorus - a lot. It's my go-to chorus for big vocal harmonies. And it's the only 32-bit plugin I transferred over to my new DAW when I went 64-bit. I've searched high and low for a replacement, accumulating a large collection of choruses in the process, but nothing so far has matched the subtle smoothness of KCC.

Very good references from all you guys, as always. Had forgotten about Azurite until Crowned mentioned it.

Check the distorque wesite for other freeware, gems. Highest IMHO is the Vitamin C compressor. Not for mastering, but rude and crude for guitar. Faithful rep of the Orange Squeeze with some additional knobs.

Still on the hunt for effects that elude me for now...(besides a good noise gate)

Got amps, eq's, compressors, delays, reverbs covered until the next life.

Still searching for the Holy Grail of stereo phase, flange, chorus (and the noise gate).

Any input deeply appreciated.

Don't know if it qualifies as the end of the quest for the holy grail, but Ubermod would at least be a stop along the way.

Thanks Bit,

Too much already available technology in my old age to keep track of. The Valhalla plugs are much more than just reverbs.

Seems I got some decent stereo images out of PSP N2O and Nitro as well. Just have to get in there, tweek the settings and save decent user presets.

Decades ago, there was nothing that could do any effect with any quality except a sterile digital echo. Reverb was the big challenge. Now we done reverb good.

Biggest obstacle now for current knowledge is the noise gate. Nothing 20 or 30 years won't solve if any of us are still here.

Often overlooked are the on-board plugs that come with whatever DAW you're using.

It's been done. It's called Pro-G from FabFilter.
