I stopped caring about Reason at 6.5 after wasting more money. They made a lot of boasts about the new system than essentially shot their users in the foot with overpriced modules and very little actual updates. Sure, they added audio in which was nice, but that was only because Record was such an absolute failure. I think they felt obligated to merge Reason and Record together to save some face.

The jump from 7 to 8 was laughable at best and now it's coming back to bite them in the ass.

I have / run v7 , but in 2000 when I was in the industry saw a alpha version of reason v1 @ work when an m-audio rep brought it in... was amazing.. 15 years on, is the first time I'd not upgraded due to I didn't feel they earned the fee of the upgrade, with what was offered. I'd rather wait till I get a grace period update.

their forum has a "features request" bit.. bit pointless as it just seemed they never listened.  e.g. I wanted to have a template for stand alone and 1 in rewire mode.

I find it quick to do sketches vs other things..  but I can't NOT do without my vst's.. which without, do make it a bit more stable in ways.

things like recycle I feel they actually made it worse.. they should have gone to make a batch convert mode *and* an audio editor.. I prefer to use the older version of it.

record was a calculated gamble, as they could / did re-use some of the code / libs in reason if it didn't work out.

if people attacking their forum servers gets access to anything else, then I understand why they are doing it. I don't feel loyal to many companies, but I do think they have lost their way a bit.

They have used the stability excuse for a long time. 8 years ago, okay, stability might have been an issue but as of now, most DAWs are fairly stable using VST. What it comes down to is one of two things: either they have little to no faith in their coding team or they want more of your money. I'd put my money on the latter seeing as they have pretty forcefully moved into an Apple style proprietary system. The only thing that isn't is hardware and that gave that a shot in the hardware department with Balance which failed pretty hardcore as well, so they stick to what they do best which is software.

Good thing these forums are sti

Good one Bapu..! Reminds me of an astrophysicist joke: "An atomic particle walks into a black hole.."

...'with some dark matter on his head in the shape of a duck. The black hole bartender says, "you can't come in hear with that stupid thing on your head! Where did you find that ugly thing anyway?" The dark matter duck says "I don't know, when I woke up this morning it was stuck to my butt."
