When I bought a new Boss TU12H tuner back in the mid 80's - it came with a frequency chart that provided the exact frequency for every note on a piano. I was living on the road at the time, so time was something I had plenty of... I will never regret taking the time to learn (and understand) that chart.

To this day I get stunned looks from sounds techs and monitor techs when I identify and name a frequency I want rolled back - or when a blast of feedback hits I promptly name the frequency to lower after matching the note on the guitar. I guess should add that I also had to learn to compensate this knowledge to apply to a 31 band graph.

I don't suppose you still have that chart?  :)

There was a handy foldout that came with Bob Katz's Mastering Audio book that shows note frequencies and correlates them to ranges of different orchestral instruments. He sells the poster on his site for $25, but you may find a downloadable version if you search on "Carnegie Hall Musical Instrument Chart".

Thanks...I thought of that after I posted and then got pulled away.

Think first, then act.

I have to remind myself to breath sometimes.

No I don't, but Boss can't be the only ones to have published it. I'm sure a search on the net will reveal something similar. I just did a google search for "notes to frequency chart" and a lot of stuff came up both on "net search" and "image search".

For reference... here is a link that shows what the chart looked like (that came with the TU12H) ... but it's almost unreadable.

It would be far better to just save the image, as you really wouldn't want to be using
your browser while recording/mixing...but that's just my opinion.  Even better would
be to have a print out handy for reference...or have it on a tablet...but again, that's just me...
