I've noticed that the songs I recently uploaded onto Soundcloud sound terrible. The quality is degraded dramatically. I uploaded 44.1, 16 bit wav files (not mp3) so I was hoping it would sound decent, despite Soundclouds 128 kbps stream rate.


Some other people's Soundcloud music sound way better, and I was wondering if anyone knows how to reduce the quality degradation?

Hi Bob. I have found it to be OK actually. If you upload stuff at 44.1 16 bit that is mainly beneficial for those wanting to download it at that same res. But otherwise for streaming playback they seem to automatically drop it down to an mp3 at a lower res. (not sure what the bit rate is here, others may know, 128 K/B sec could be)

Just do the usual thing maybe in terms of preparing the file for mp3 conversion. Are you pushing hard mastering wise with very loud masters etc... Actually give us your Soundcloud link and I can check out how things sound. I can stream direct into my studio for accurate monitoring etc...

I pulled mine down to be honest. I've started putting them up on YouTube just for the improved quality. 

I like SoundCloud's quality. It depends on the device and times that I listen. I rarely hear issues.

24 bit wave is best. Takes a bit longer but worth it

I really wouldn't pay it more than 2 cents of attention... Most of the respected posters here use Soundcloud... So this dubious attack has me more than a little incredulous...

The ones that sucked "the most?" were at Soundclick, and Reverbnation? The ones that were the best were at Soundcloud... The others "really" REALLY!! SUCKED BA!!$ And when I say sucked? I MEAN A GOLF BALL THROUGH A GARDEN HOSE!! SERIOUS PRESSURE!!

What is funny to me? Is that when companies feel pressure? From competitors? They sink to crap like this right here (OP). It shows you the kind of **** rhymes with CRIT that these other companies are made of.

vaultwit has been around for a while as far as I know and is a genuine poster. So I am not so sure he is spamming etc..But I agree I have found Soundcloud to be fine. I don't have a lot up there right now but I have put many tracks up there and I always check them out when I do and I have not been disappointed usually.

Submitted as exhibit "A" my latest Christmas tune, "On Soundcloud" it is the clearest and best recording I have to offer to date... Many have commented on this? It's on another thread here "What child is this..." 

I uploaded it as a 24 bit .wav, and their rendering sounds "exactly" like what I uploaded? "Exactly" Like what I uploaded... 

.Soundcloud works fine for me, free speech works well too? It's protected in the Constitution, not a popular document these days, but part of our history. Speech is always good "as long as you agree with it?" It's the speech we don't agree with that needs to be protected... That's why those documents were written?
