Get a load of that GUI!  I thought the Maserati plugs were steampunk, but this goes way beyond.

What I want is a Butch Vig plugin that instantly produces the drum sounds he got for Nevermind.  Might have to be packaged with a virtual Dave Grohl to lay down the tracks, though.

Cheers,
Eddie

1 plugin from Butch is not enough to make me run to Waves.

if it was a suite of plugins overseen with settings by him then maybe.

Waves plugins I have stayed away from and have not gotten the bug to buy as of yet.

Well, I am a Sonar Platinum. In regards to Sonar and Waves Butch Vig Vocals I wanted his big boy sound on my vocal tracks.

I bought it and then I installed. There's no audio affect on signal even though you can visualize the processing with their most amazing GUI that everyone is pretty much flippin' out over with ecstatic joy.

Waves said to delete the pref folder by moving it.
And still nothing... Tried VST2 version. Same result.
All my other Waves plugins work.

Yo, yo, Waves... How about fixin' your plugin as it's clearly busted with this particular plugin??

Waves 9 is at .3 whereas Butch Vig is at 9.6. You should notice a second waveshell in the VST3 folder or VST 2

It works perfectly well on my systems though I admit it took me 2 goes to make it happen. Because of the additional waveshell dll there were some problems and I did a full uninstall then a reinstall and all was fine..

BTW! If you ever have to reinstall there's a folder, User/app data/roaming/Waves you need to install as it contains info from the previous install that if not deleted ends up prompting you for the Waves Plugins 9 folder which can't be resolved. Delete the folder and its subdirectories and you're good to go.

So what's the verdict on this? The interface looks like something from the Matrix. It doesn't seem to have an intuitive visual flow to it. Do you get used to it?

It's one of those Waves plugins where you have a number of dials to play with. The presets of the co developer, in this case Butch Vig work behind the scenes so you only need to dial in how much or little compression you need etc. you don't get to tailor make any settings, purely whether they are on and how much..

Mind you for smoothing out some vocals it does seem to do that very nicely and with little effort. It's a crazy looking GUI. Kinda like I'm playing with a 200 year old steam powered watch.
