Rain
We had an appointment w/ our attorney this morning in regards to the car accident and he got us an appointment with a doctor. A German guy who specializes in pain evaluation. With my twisted sense of humour, I thought it made sense... :P

I was so anxious to get back to the gym after +2 weeks off, but it seems that I'll be off for at least another 2 weeks. My neck, shoulder and arm appear to be messed up. I have 2 fingers of my picking hand which are a bit numb, and alternatively feel burning, cold and painful. The attorney actually noticed that that side of my hand was cold when we shook hands.

So I'm in for prescription medication, further examinations, radiography, etc... Also had a shot in my butt cheek. Which I didn't like at all, even I never felt it.

My wife will be off the lead track for two weeks. She suffers a lot more than I because of the headaches, but the fact that nerves appear to be involved in my case potentially means serious consequences. But I'm not too worried for now, even though it bugs me to have my picking hand potentially compromised. Could be worst though, if it were the other hand.

No gym also means that you guys are stuck with me hanging around a bit more than usual for a while. :P

That's hard news. I truly hope everything works out for both of you.

At the moment, I am simply hoping things don't get worst.

Chicken picking isn't 100% functional but not impossible either and I can still play w/ a pick, so I don't feel I have a right to complain. I'm crossing fingers that we don't break anything trying to fix the shoulder.

No gym is a bummer - but again, a 1st world problem.

Back in the day, I came off my GS1100 at around 30 mph. I didn't feel so bad at the time and only had a broken hand. It took a good 4 days for the deep bruising to come out. It really seemed like I would never feel right again but I started to get better and slowly recovered. When you take a heavy impact it moves things in your body that have never been moved like that.

Take as few drugs as you can and try and move to avoid getting stiff. Playing guitar will help you hand. After hand surgery I was told I'd be off for 6 weeks. I started playing my guitar within 24 hrs and was back to work in 15 days.

Beware of lawyers always, they are not your friends. They are lawyers.

Get well soon.

Thanks, John!

There's no way they're keeping me off the guitar - maybe not the big Epi because it forces my shoulder into an odd angle, but the SG's the ideal guitar for such situations. I naturally seem less inclined to do chicken picking stuff. But I need to play. At some point, it's a matter of mental health. :P

My wife, on the other hand, had to come back and will be off the show for a while as they've diagnosed her with a relatively severe concussion - worst than that time when she actually hit her head backstage.

Fortunately for us, the case is pretty clear - 100% responsibility on the other driver, 3 witnesses with written statements, and a camera that filmed the entire incident.

But when it comes to dealing with the diminished value of our vehicle, loss of revenue, loss of business opportunities and such, we will likely need legal help, though I'm not one to trust lawyers that easily.

In the meantime, I guess we'll be watching more CSI and I'll finally be able to catch up and get back to studying music theory.

If you play your cards right, you'll not only get healthy, but wealthy too!  Then you can get more toys (and cats).

Get well Rain. I am so sorry to hear of both your pain. You might want to be careful what you post here on that subject while you are working with an attorney.
All the best.

Hope you both get better soon. A few years ago, in a car accident, I cracked ribs, but didn't know it for days, once the adrenalin calmed down.
