Scottytunes- thanks, I was looking for a kind of mellow feel so Bread sounds good.

Starise- glad you liked the song, I struggled with the vocals, first double tracked and then dry, then some light reverb - I think I kind of got lost so it's great to get your opinion on that.

The Band19 - I'm always glad if it's not what one would expect, thanks for tuning in.

ohgrant- I'll try a high pass filter on the guitars. There's something going on that I can't stand, a sort of low ringing and that should help, thanks. There are so many things available to a beginner that it's sometimes hard to know where to start. Fun though and thanks again.

I like the tune but the drums feel kind of out of place (what is being played) and the bass comes on a bit too strong in places IMO (tone is great though).

Excellent critique Bapsi! I completely agree. Sounds like you have a leslie on the oh-so-smooth guitar, I like. The drum rolls seem ill timed to me. Out of place. They are appropriate, just not where you have them IMO. Vox are really wonderful. Love that sound.

Very nice.  I like the warm vocals so much that the rest of the arrangement did not get in the way.  This is a song where drums are of secondary importance.  In fact, I can easily hear this with just basic percussion.  Welcome to the forum!

Bapu- thanks for listening, I think I may have been trying to be a bit too clever with the drums for the level I'm at. I'm still just happy I can now get a sound out of Session Drummer 2. LOL. The bass, yeah, I'm realizing that I tend to play a little louder as the song goes on. I'm hoping consistency will come with more experience and confidence. Thanks for the comments.

Foxwolfen- Thanks for the comments, I'm going to go have another listen to the drums, they seem to be getting more attention than I expected.

Lynn- I'm really glad you enjoyed the song, and thanks for the welcome. This forum is amazing and it is so helpful to have other sets of ears. People have been very supportive and this time my hand wasn't shaking when I posted (unlike the first time).

Notnat - thanks, quirky and cool is great in my books. I'm glad you sent another post as your first one (I'm listening.........) had me puzzled for a bit. : )

Cool/jazzy little piece.  I guess I'm the oddball. . . I liked the drums.  IMO a little dry sounding compared to the rest of the mix but I liked the overall tone.  The problem I'm getting on my end is the separation of the rhythm/bass guitars.  The tones need more EOing and I hear some low end distortion/muddiness.  Be careful with your bass tones.  When EQing bass most people add low end when the secret is to scoop out the lows and add more high end.  Love your vocals and how they are sitting in the mix.  GREAT JOB!  Looking forward to hearing more of your music.

Soooooooo after my 5th listen I actually think its just your rhythm guitar that needs EQing.  It needs more high end and could sit back a smidge in the mix. KUDOS!

drumstixkev- That sounds like great advice, the rhythm guitar sound was giving me fits. I'm going to take your advice with the bass also, and some other folks ideas and hopefully get a remix up after Christmas. 5 listens? Thanks so much.

The Band19
"The Band19 - I'm always glad if it's not what one would expect, thanks for tuning in. "

Right? If it's expected? Then it's potentially something lots of folks are doing or have done. If it's unexpected, then by definition "it's different?" And different is cool in its own way, regardless of anything else about the performance/recording. We strive to be unique, then good...

I'm considering writing one called "Too soon?" But it's autobiographical, and about my romantic exploits... Is that it? Yes, I'm already in the kitchen making a sandwich... When I told you to "live in the moment?" I meant it literally... (I'm sorry for that right there Lord.)
