Hi folks,

I'm looking to incorporate a few of the 3 rd party orchestra sound libraries and instruments that use the N I  Kompakt propriety format and instrument in my Music ...

is there such a thing as getting a fully working licensed Kontakt player that will play these sample libraries ?

Or do I have to save up to buy the whole Komplete software bundle  just to be able to add these sound libraries and instruments

please accept my apologies in advance if this turns out to be a dumb question  ...

Hi Kenny, you can just purchase Kontakt but there isn't a heck of a lot of difference in price between Kontakt player and the whole Komplete bundle.

What I had to do to keep the cost down was find a used license on eBay for Kontakt 4 and wait it out for a crossgrade sale.

It took about 2 months but that's how I ended up where I am now with NI sounds. I'll be peeking out the window next week waiting for the FedEx guy to bring my Komplete 9 package and I have about $350.00 in the whole thing including the crossgrade.

You can buy Kontakt 5 as a single purchase, see here:

Kontakt goes on sale at least twice a year at 50%, as does Komplete. Keep an eye out for secondhand licenses too! Do not buy full price... ever.

Some Libraries can use just the free player...
But having the full version of Kontakt is what you want..
And, if you buy from Zzounds you can get 4 payments of
$125 or, if you find it on sale...less..if you can put out the
full amount now....

It's easily worth the price...you'll never regret it...and, in my other
thread, the crossgrade is $200 at Sweetwater right now if you
can find a cheap copy of Kontakt to use to upgrade...or, some
of those Libraries will qualify you for the crossgrade....

WOW Guys , thanks a lot for the info

I suspected that I would have to get the Komplete if I wanted the Kontakt player ….yet it doesn't hurt to ask and have all the full info..

Grant , hey good luck , that was very creative how you managed to upgrade . I'm happy for you

MarioD , thanks for the link …that helped..at least I know where I stand

strikinglyhandsome1 ,  I think I just missed one of the sales a little while back….
yeah, full price is as lot of coin and it is not a place I can go ….
when the time is right , maybe I'l get lucky and find a second hand license at a price I can afford …thanks

cclarry, Yes , I hear you loud and clear , there is no doubt in my mind that having the full Kontak / Komplete  is gonna be the way for me to go ...
some of the libraries that I'm interested in getting (eventually ) state that they are not compatible w the free Kontak player ...
it's all good , thank you all for your suggestions

Komplete 9 and full Kontakt cost differ not very much, and you get this and so much more in Komplete...

I'm with Kenny on this.  I'd love to have the full version of Kontakt but the initial price is too steep for this guy.

When it comes on sale, I'd appreciate a wake up call.

I too would go for Komplete. You get so much stuff included that it would take months to simply try it all. This is really true if you haven't bought aftermarket drum synths because you get Abbey Road, Studio Drummer and Battery 4 included, plus more synths than you will ever want to learn. I paid around $500 for Komplete and I've never looked back.

They always have a summer sale and occasionally something comes up on those strange colour days you people have across the pond like blue Monday, Black Friday, orange Thursday, turquoise Tuesday, pink Wednesday etc...
