The Moog Modular returns!System 55, 35 and Model 15 manufactured for first time in decades
I would love one of these, but I would have to get a bigger house and mortgage the cats. I suppose I could probably just about make room for a Model 15.

It was a faithful re-creation of the original Keith Emerson's legendary modular instrument, and he used to drag it around live.   It is still basically monophonic.  The Moog Modular influenced Edgar Froese too from Tangerine Dream when it came around.

In case you are wondering it is about $92,000 in costs to get one made just like that.

That was the 55 Model right?

I will stick with my Arturia VSTi. More economical if you are after a hardware modular is http://synthesizers.com/ I spent many an idle hour dreaming up systems using their Synth Invent program. You could make a pretty decent system for $5K

Yes I had a little dribble over that video yesterday, though Emerson's, named Roger the Synth, was slightly different as it had preset modules for setting presets.

Yes, I had understood these commercial products were a follow on from the original "Roger" project.

Prices of these models are considerable less that the $92K mentioned by Jeff but still way out of reach to most people.

There will be 55 units of the System 55, priced at $35,000 per instrument;
35 of units of the System 35, priced at $22,000 per instrument;
150 units of the Model 15, priced at $10,000 per instrument.  (a misprint in the article, it should be 15 units!)

It would be nice to just play with one for awhile.

Apologies if you felt I indicated any error on your part Glyn, I just wanted to note that Roger was somewhat different from the 55 they are going to market.

I newver thought you were correcting me.
I touched one once on a visit to The Dartington College of Arts in the UK back in the early 70's, but the staff were very reluctent to let us engineering sudent oiks play with it. Instead they demonstrated some noises.

Know what you mean when I was at our local college, Thurrock Tech as an engineering stuident, I stumbled across an old patchable synth, Arp I think do not remember, back in 1983-4, but like you they would not lets us play they had locked all the patch leads away

I've always wanted to play with one of those monsters.  The closest I've ever gotten was having a beer with Bob Moog!
