I am not sure but it looks very similar to a Roland modular I saw in a picture once, but then I could well be totally wrong.

Know what you mean when I was at our local college, Thurrock Tech as an engineering stuident, I stumbled across an old patchable synth, Arp I think do not remember, back in 1983-4, but like you they would not lets us play they had locked all the patch leads away

At my own Tech in Torquay the electronics lecturer was well into electronic music and had written a book on synthasizers. He was quite proud to have had a forward written for him by Robert Moog.

We had a EMS Synthi A which were were encouraged to patch and program. There seemed to be an eleitist attitude at Dartington.

It's a moog - you can tell by the knob configuration of the VCF's:

The closest I've ever gotten was having a beer with Bob Moog!

Now there is something I can lust over and assumingI could find it, afford.

Edit - Bahh, limited addition from 2010 so its as rare as an original modular.

Does anyone of you listen to Christopher Franke and know any of his setup? Have the Babylon 5 album with that picture in it. His sounds is amazing. I wonder if he uses this thing when recording or not. I know that he used an orchestra in Germany for the orchestra sounds. Also check out a song called "Purple Waves" or something.
