"Realistic" composition tools you'd REALLY like to see.

I don't know about you guys but Realtec stuff is actually worse than SoundBlaster stuff.

I do this with Jamstix all the time. You can hook the MIDI out of Jamstix to any drum VST you like. Works great with AD, BFD, Battery and everything else. It's awesome!
 

It really really does look awesome. I probably wouldn't use it for my crazier metal/alt/hardcore stuff but I'd like to put together some blues and jazz type albums. I think that would be WAY better for getting that loose jammy feel which is a nightmare to try to duplicate VIA direct entry or on my controller pads.

I think it does metal and rock pretty well. The great thing about Jamstix is, you can give it a MIDI file and it will play that groove for you - adding the accents, embellishments and fills of a real drummer. So you can still write your own drum parts but let Jamstix humanize them. Absolutely every aspect of the performance is tweakable from bar to bar. In fact the range of parameters can be overwhelming. You would love it. Watch out for it on sale.
