Just got a deal in my e-mail from CD Baby... Don't get me wrong, I love CD Baby, and I distribute all my music through them, but this is just so funny.

The offer is up to 35% off if you pre-buy album submission credits... And that 35% off comes when you pre-buy ONE HUNDRED album submissions. Who is distributing 100 albums? Even if you're a label, that's kind of overly forward thinking, no? Even 50 would be overkill, but 100?!

It just made me laugh and I figured I'd share with you guys haha.

Over 2 years that's only 1 album release per week...  What will you do all the rest of the time?

hahaha. if someone buys me the 100 album submission I will dedicate the next two years of my life to creating 100 albums worth of content. 10 songs per album. all full length songs.

I was actually looking at all that stuff the other day and although it may seem a little silly there apparently is no time constraints on that and considering the cost of manufacturing and the PITA of doing all that online crap they do for you I could see that being a not so bad investment if one had the cash and was doing a little local Indie label set up. Honestly back in the day I could have probably burned through a good chunk of that quickly with all my various bands, my friends bands, all the young upstarts that would come out to open for us, the old school guys who were awesome but could never get their shiz together, etc...

I could release a pile of demos, full realeases, live gigs, spoken word diatribes, joke albums, drunken idiots farting into microphones, whatever...

Since I'm destitute though and kind of looking more inward these days I was looking at the more practical pre-pay credits for singles or five albums at a time. It's a little weird they don't offer pre-paid credits/discounts for their Pro package but I guess if you are already signed up for whatever royalty collection agencies that extra service may not be really necessary anyway. I THINK I'm already signed up for that stuff via the crap I did last year. They mentioned all that international collection stuff and I was asked which agencies I wanted to represent me in the US.

Not that I'll be getting any air time anytime soon anyway but I figure it's worth it to get this crap out of the way now.

You know I think if I was to release all the old junky stuff from my comedy-rap days, all the good stuff from the comedy-rap days (haha), and any odds and ends recordings I did for local bands, and every instrumental I've ever made even if it sucks... I could probably get 30 albums out of it. But I don't think I'd want all of that readily available to people who might like my real music and do some googling... It's bad enough that my comedy-rap stuff is out there haha :-)
