I completely redid the drums.  they were really very bad after I started listening to your comments!  I also remixed it, there were problems throughout and I'll not go into details, but it involved a sledge hammer, a squirrell and more RAM (thanks, AP! ).

so, here it is again and comments are certainly welcome!

Yeah, that's got it Beagle.

Anything I have to say at this point is preference not technical.

Great job, and thanks for asking me to play on it. I enjoyed the STormy journey.

The new and improved version sounds very good, Reece.

Hi Reece,

I think what you have here is working nicely, a well crafted and produced song. One thing that struck me was the sparseness of the backing - nothing wrong with that - but I could imagine a lightly strummed acoustic in there to propel the rhythm a little, there's certainly room for it.

Reece, this is much improved over the last mix.  It sounds way more natural, like a live performance, and not sequenced at all.  You'll have to share the squirrel technique!  BTW, thanks for you help on my latest song.  I think I may have found the problem.

bapsi - thanks my friend!  always a pleasure working with you and this was no exception!  thanks for all your help!

Jan - thank you sir!  I appreciate the listen and comments!

James - thanks very much for the listen and suggestions!  I had a place for an acoustic on this and ended up decided to take it out (Band in a box place holder).  that was quite some time ago before we started doing this one live, so I might go back and reconsider that.  are you offering one?

Lynn - thanks!  apparently I sometimes get lazy and I'm glad for you and everyone here to keep me on my toes!  I"m glad you figured out the problem in yours as well!  sometimes those gremlins are monsters to chase around!

Beags - I must have missed the original - this is good stuff mate. My only nit is that the panning seems a bit odd. The drums seem to drift from the middle to the left and back again. Great performances and all round and quality recording though sir.

Thanks Daryl!  I am not sure about the drums, I certainly didn't do that on purpose!  I'll look into it, tho!

The mix is really gelling together nicely.

I love the vocal layers.

best,

OK.... I like the song. Good writing and performance.

To the nits: not big but kinda stuck out to my ears.

1. The vocals are too low. A few db up will let them be clearly heard above the instrument bed without them being too loud. This genre especially has lyric that is very important, filled with a message that is the entire reason for the song. If I didn't have the lyric on the screen to read along with the song, I would have missed some of the lines totally on the first and probably second listen as well.

2. Drums are not feeling totally like they are a part of the song. I've noticed, when listening to the newer CCM stuff that the drummers have a very unique style of playing that is unlike most other genre's I am used to hearing. Not being a drummer, I'm at a loss to describe it properly to you.... it's one of those things that... "I know it when I hear it" ... more like rock or fusion but not as hard ... it's fun to watch the drummers....
