Yes James.  And keep in mind that "spreading" "widening", panning, and such can be done in a number of ways, other than the obvious turning the Pan knob.  Use of delays, doubled tracks, Eq, Haas effect, amongst others can be used to widen or spread your field.  On the drums, start by just checking the pan placement of the HiHats vs the Snare for starters in your drum program.

I'll have to take another listen when I'm in my studio (on laptop now) to check out the trumpet/compression question.

Others have made good suggestions on this tune, and I have nothing to add.  But, I think this has a lot of potential and just needs to be finished.  I like where this is headed.

You could try the panning the other instruments and if you kept the trumpet centered with either no reverb or a small plate on it this should bring the trumpet out more. You can  add a limiter to the trumpet track/adding some eq. Panning will make it more spacial but over panning will loose mono compatibility.

Hi Lynn HAPPY HOLIDAYS ! Yea this has been one of those months when creating something is in slow motion . From building our computers , planning our move to Tennessee hopefully in Feb of next year and some other health issues going on being creative hasn't been on top of my list .
I have been sort pushing myself to get back into it with this tune and I guess I'll keep pushing untill its where I want it to be .

Thanks for dropping in - James

Yea mixing is not something I'm really great at but I'm working at it trying new things like some of you have suggested .

TNF - I decided to read the comments before listening. Usually I do not until after (I like to hear with my own ears). But, I did in this case, because I do not want to spend time on yet another incomplete song from you. You get the same replies each and every time. It is time to pay heed. Maybe get some lessons, study music theory, understand what melody and counterpoint actually are. You have decent basic skills, but you seem to be resistant to growth. I do not mean this as an insult to you, or to be argumentative. Its just the way it is.

TNF, surly you know how easy it is to manipulate those figures? Perhaps you notice that outside of you, absolutely nobody posts them? This is because they are meaningless. Anyway. I will give you credit for consistency.

LOL your funny !!  This is the first verse chord progession without the TRUMPET MELODY added to it !

By the way theres nothing wrong with the song , lots of people here on this forum post WIP songs !
You act as if I'm the only one who post WIP songs to get some feed back on , excus me you seem to always trash me no matter what and thats because you don't like me and never did in the past .

I don't need your comments or advice I know my music sounds good , your just trying to make me think my music is bad .

BYE !

Cool groove in 3/4 time!   The trumpet is very legato, but I like it here.  My only crit concerns stereo placement of the instruments.  I think there is room to spread them out, along with the drums, and leave that trumper in the center.  The mix sounds fairly mono to me James.

I like the sparseness of the guitar too.

Good one!

Oh I forgot to say my drums patterns were in 6/8 time not 3/4 time
