"Walked Away" - mighty vintage Mark2b tones w/modern strat

((( link removed )))

a finished tune with a bunch of cool guitars and solos on a custom USACG strat....
carvin lb70 bass, ADK Hamburg on vox, Superior Drums, Taylor acoustic guitars,
and the (now vintage) mesa mark2b

this one was fun to mix, i got seriously into MULTI BUS setups for this mix...
every single track has volume and pan automation, quite a few even have FX automation....

i did a lot of experimenting with bus FX, used the L1 quite a bit, multiple instances....
a lot of EQ carving with the standard Sonitus Eq, used Waves Tap on the vox....
i gotta look at some screenshots to remember what all i did

any comments are welcome

Walked away contains everything from the old school rock world very nice played guitars all over. Funny backtrack-things too, and the tune gave me some good old Slade-vibs. Never heard of the Bratsbrew though but I'm new here. The mix however sounds real good. Rock on

This is pretty amazing. Definitely .38 special/Molly Hatchet in places, but in other places, more other classic and new rock, your vocals have really come along. And the bass in this is awesome. And you have a STRONG Queen thing going there on the bridge.

Bat, you are consistently one of the better singer, songwriter, musician, and producer here.  I love the wah-wah guitar that could have been ripped from Electric Ladyland.  Your style is familiar but unique, making you one of a kind.  Truly fantastic!

thanks man, glad you liked it...
this tune is supposed to be kinda loose and free....
it's supposed to swagger... rather than be spot on with performance.

the performance is intentionally loose.
i channeled my inner keith.
heheh, or as best as i can do it.

and of course, a few shots of rye did not hurt at all.
no, not at all.

thanks man!
38 special, haven't heard that name dropped in a long time...
i grew up in Jax florida, knew all those guys once upon a time......

queen would have been a stronger influence then the southern rock thing, even tho i dig it.

the bass:
i have to admit, was my favorite part of tracking; over all of the solos, the singing, all the rest, i enjoyed playing the bass part the most.

thanks man........

i really wanted to rock this tune, not get it dialed in like a pop tune...
the arrangement is a bit long, as a result of wanting to build things up a certain way...

but i wrote it to work as a 2nd song on the album, an instrumental (of sorts) leads it in, and it works at this length for an album, maybe not a single, but hell, i just don't write with that intention any more.

i've often thought about limiting myself to exactly 3:00.

LOL

i think that is the limit for someone who gets easily bored, or as ADD.

heheh

like me.......

thanks lynn, really kind words, i appreciate it.

the wah...
i really like my Budda Wah, i've had a bunch of crybabies, but this one is voiced more the way i like, i guess.......

i learned to play wah, aping jimi off of electric ladyland, so it's funny you say that...
my favorite tune to 'try' to play by jimi: still raining, still dreaming
