Third time I have posted this song but I have been very unhappy with the mix.  Have I nailed it this time?  Not sure.  What do you think?  I keep at it because the song seems to be worth it.

There is a lot of aliasing in the file you posted, making any kind of critical analysis next to impossible. You might want to consider uploading a higher-bitrate mp3 to soundcloud. I THINK the acoustic guitar is thin and excessively roomy, but I can't be sure, the way I'm listening to it may be skewing my perception. You should probably do a little trimming at the start, perhaps a fade-in on the guitar to hide the opening noise. If there's reverb on the acc guitar, take it off. If that's all room, well, OK. I do immensely like what I can make out, though. Vox & lead guitar are right up front, and excellent use of effects. Love the mandolin. Just wish I could hear it all properly. Sorry about the lack of paragraphs. I'm typing this on my laptop and it only has Firefox.

Gosh. Thank you for the feedback.  I am going to have to google aliasing before anything. I did hear the noise at the start but felt lazy.  So noted!  There is reverb on the acoustic guitar so removeable.  Thanks man!

Awesome tune and performances, but a bit of work to do on the mix that Bit has mentioned.

Thank you.  Any more specifics?  I am googling aliasing and getting heartily confused.  What are you hearing that is not right?

Well kind of sounds like the MP3 encoder might have screwed up on you. Sounds like a great mix as far as levels and tones. Other than that I'm not a real good person to take mix advice from ;)  A really great song though and for me that's what's really important.

Thanks.  I know that there is a problem with the mp3.  It doesn't reflect what I am hearing in the wave file.  Few questions.  What dither algorithm do you use?  I used power 3/ 16 bit.  But something is screwing up.  I have never had this issue before.

Well I've been using my powercore X5 finalizer set to 16 bit on the main buss when I dither down so I set the dithering to none in Sonar.
I've heard it before on my own mixes when encoding. Many times I've tracked it down to plugs that enhance the stereo effect like Nugen Stereoizer. Some times turning my buffer rate way up gets rid of it sometimes I have to sacrifce the plug.
You may want to look into a monitoring solution that lets you solo listen to the Mid Side and mono. Sometimes it alerts you of a possible problem that will effects a 128 mp3. I think Arc 2 does all that.

Would you mind giving it a listen.  Have cleaned it up (I hope).

hey munmun... I just took a listen...  I don't think I'm hearing any aliasing in this mix, but I'm not 100% sure about it.  It maybe the flanger(?) on the cymbals we are hearing. (I'm not that crazy about it in this tune...just my opinion though.)

I like your song and the way it builds... good structure. Nice EQing too.  I think the mix still needs some thought.  To my ears you have a center section going on, and most everything else seems hard panned left and right.  I hear very little content in the "10 and 2 o'clock" part of the stereo field.  I love motion and ear candy too, but still need to hear a little consistent meat there....maybe the drums could be re-panned??

Sometimes I find the snare disappears a bit in the mix, even though it sounds right when soloed.  That may have happened here.

Great vocals and use of delay!

Thanks for sharing this one!
