I hate you.

This sounds like the way Mark Wessels would have done this.

Cool arrangement, drums are very cool, I think.  Fun stuff.

Robby - Is that like the old "I only hit you because I love you" line? ...wow, flashbacks of my ex-girlfriend. ..(just kidding, she didn't hit me...too often)

Daryl - Thank you for the listen and compliment.  This is actually a debut of sorts of my drumming.  I played some parts, used loops on other parts, and spent alot of time manually fixing the midi from my live drumming, lol.  In hindsite, using loops for the whole thing probably would of been better, just less fun

Really enjoyed this, Mike. Not shreddy at all and very well done and tasty! This is a really good take. One little subjective crit that stuck out to me as well. Agree with Beeps on the lead being just a bit thin. I don't even know if "thin" is the right way to describe it because it definitely has some "goirth" as I say here in NJ (that's girth to everyone else lol) but I'd say maybe low pass it a bit so it's a little less trebly maybe, then you of course will need to raise the level a bit. But that's about it brother...really enjoyed this, awesome job!

Drums, bass and everything else sounded fine to me too. I never liked AD, but man, you sure made these sound terrific! Way to go Mike!

Danny - thanks a ton for the feedback.  I write and record so many different styles of music, I never really sit down and work out guitar tones for each style.  As you can tell, it's something I should spent a bit of time on.  Your lead tone was great on the song you just posted with Philip.

Incidentally, I used to play in coverbands and used a POD for my live sound.  Every cover we learned, I tried to match that bands guitar tone real close.  Many times I succeded, but when it comes to my own tones, I get real lazy.

Thanks again

Some people pay good money for that? I was saying I hate you because I've played guitar all my life, but I'll never play like this. Some people just have an extra dimension to their talent which allows them to do things that most others cannot. I have an extra dementia to my talent :-(

No problem Mike. Yeah I know how much you dive into all different styles. It's awesome you do so well with them too. You tones were good on this, honest. I just have this thing (and it very well could be my sensitive ears) where I always try to warm up my lead tones so that they don't pierce or cut as much as my rhythm tones. I don't like my lead tones too chocolatey warm....a little bite is cool, but I hear this sort of....hmmm...the frequency is so high, I can't even type what it sounds like. But this certain high end thing just hits me a certain way when a lead tone has a bit too much bite in it. You were sort of on the border line there. But it did get a bit warmer as the song went on.

I try to low pass my lead tones anywhere from 6k to 9k depending on the song, key and feel I'm looking for. It just takes that little bit of rasp out of the tone that we get from using high gain. Thanks again for the kind words on our song, glad you liked the tone there. Great job once again brother. :)

Very cool. Sounds like that was fun to do!

I have to agree with some of the other comments, in that the guitar was a bit thin. Originally I thought it was just the type of distortion used on the guitar, but I decided to turn it louder and then I realized its not so much thin as it is narrow. I would push the layers wider while leaving the primary lead centered. Otherwise, its sounds really tight.
