Yeah, I can understand that.
I'm set as far as plugins go although it's fun to check out new releases.

Are you a lefty Carl?  I see your Guitar pic is a lefty so
was just curious...

BTW...I did find that the StudioRack helped greatly with
CPU efficiency, especially running multiple plugins...
there was a noticeable improvement...

Been looking forward to this since they announced it back around Xmas, hate the look of it, but it makes up for that :)
I use heaps of waves stuff, 'almost' exclusively, never had any problems with or thought the CPU usage was high, no issues with waves shell either, easy install, a breeze, and for me the easiest plugins to use and get the sound I am looking for with the least effort. Took me while to actually try waves, listened to all the horror stories etc, then took the plunge, and it's been smooth sailing ever since, just wish I didn't wait so long.

Besides the few crashes it's caused it's a good sounding plugin.
I'm finding it really nice on backing voc. , submixes too. I'm just not very fond of the interface.

Obviously different systems will behave differently because of "different" hardware and software interaction.
THIS is the primary reason for updates...

Never had anything catastrophic...it was always more of a nuisance....but, at the time, the going prices were good,
there were other things that I needed more, and decided just to "remove" Waves.  Coincidentally...I haven't had a
SINGLE crash since...NOT ONE....and I use both Platypus and Pro Tools....

I do still own StudioRack, EK Guitars, OK Louder, and OK Pumper....the freebies...but they are
not installed....I also have the new Waves version of Ardour installed (TracksLive)

I have no qualms with Waves...just some of the idiosyncrasies...

Wouldn't this Butch Vig also turn up in the Signature Vocal Series?

Color me skeptical...

Created in collaboration with Grammy®-winning producer Butch Vig

What does this mean? That maybe you can get yerself one of them Grammies too, for 99 bucks?
More likely, it means "Butch let us put his name on it for a piece of the action. If he'd said no, we'd have just gone down to the next name on the list."
3-band EQ with a distinct frequency character

What does this mean? That if you specify 1 KHz it might select 1.5 KHz because that's what Butch would have selected? More likely, it means the frequency knob has no numbers on it.
LoCut, HiCut and MidDip filters for removing unwanted frequencies

At last! A cut/cut/dip filter, just like...uh...every EQ I have?
Compressor and de-esser

OK, I admit that's handy. You can save some mouse clicks by not having to load your usual compressor and de-esser. Mostly, you don't have to deal with all those confusing knobs that are on your other comps. Butch only needs one knob, and he's got a Grammy.

Waves' real talent is marketing. Not that the products are bad - so far all I've tried have been decent. Not spectacular, but decent. And every bit as good as competitors' equivalent products that sell for half as much. A few are even unique. But this trend toward dumbed-down plugins isn't doing anyone any favors. The rubes will buy this one and will still be unhappy with their mixes. Waves will come to the rescue next year with the "One-knob Rick Rubin Vox in a Box". And they'll be unhappy all over again.

I will, however, give them credit for the imaginative UI. Oh sure, it's absolutely awful, a perfect example of how not to do an ergonomic design. But give 'em credit for taking a chance.

Sorry, I just hadn't had my annual Waves rant so far this year. Now that it's out of the way I can leave them be for awhile.
