guitar's sound great mate - did you sidechain them to get the gated thing going on?

It's a couple of these in sequence and in-line.

I shoulda put the vox through too...

:)

According to legend when Johnny Marr did the original guitar part he recorded it clean, they then played it back chained through the Vibrato (tremelo really) units of TWO Fender twins and had to keep splicing where the Tremelo kept drifting from the tempo.

Basically I'm just emulating the same thing with the Echobode's just set-up as standard trems but a switch keeps it all in sync making it much simpler.

@Robby there are much bigger issues here other than the snare sound, which incidentally sounds deliberately like a snowball being hit with a baseball bat, as intended much like the original one.

Oh no you dinnit say that, didja?
Yeah, it was good? Don't get me wrong. I did enjoy it! But I give my opinions? I don't do so to be controversial, however, "I realize that I am controversial..." However, when I make comments on songs, or performances? They come from my heart. It's a subjective thing? Like your comment (privately) about something on the mix of our colab? You said (and I'm paraphrasing) I appreciate your input, however, I'm not changing that.

Believe me! I understand this... My problem is, I used to take that approach "across the board..." People would line up? With an opinion... And they would all have pretty much the same opinion (about something in a mix.) And I was like, "oh you just can't appreciate my art." And then I realized? (had one of those moments of clarity) Oh ****, maybe I'm the one who can't appreciate my art? LOL! So, I'm a firm believer that people hear things in your shiz which you cannot... Sometimes they are right? Sometimes they are wrong. But I always give an honest opinion, and I try not to point out/criticize obvious deficiencies.

Plus, my ears are getting older :-( Fortunately, other parts are defying the aging process? (I'll spare you the details.) Suffice it to say, testosterone supplements are a good thing and highly recommended! :-)

So again, no disrespect whatsoever to Mr. JB. It was my honest opinion as I listened (on my buds)

No disrespect taken Robby, I know you are passionate about the music and are sensitive to other peoples creations.

It does have a fluffy sound as I say much like the original as opposed to the emphatic crack we've got used to in recent years.  If you get my meaning...

Yes I do understand. I like doing tribute versions as well. I wasn't familiar w/the cover, but I can definitely relate to trying to get a tribute sound. I have more in the pipeline... And a tribute version, is your best to represent what the people you look up did.

It is an homage to their performance from your perspective. I definitely understand.
Wait until you hear my plastic Ono band tribute, it will give you chills... (right before it causes you to projectile vomit. I hate that woman.)

Good work, Jonbouy.  It sounds like the Spacey pick-ups are living up to expectations, too.

The custom pickups sound great!

I'm curious if you had to do much EQ'ing, compressing, or anything like that to them to get them to sit in the mix?

I have a set of EMG Gold's that I've had or 20 + years IIRC. They add way too much in certain frequencies to give them a fat sound. They are that way by design. I spend a lot of time taking that out of my recordings because I record direct and don't mic my amp.

No EQ or comp whatsoever and I don't even own an amp ...lol

It's just one of the stock Line 6 presets in Reason called Brit Drive which is the 1968 Plexi Lead 100 amp and the 1968 4X12 Green 25s cab emulations.  Drive is set to about 2 o'clock all the tone and presence settings are at 1 o'clock except the mid which is at 3 o'clock.

I don't know how that would translate if you have the proper Line 6 setup.

I have HPF and LPF's set just to mimic a dynamic mic setup to some degree so the low pass is set at 4.3 kHz to kill any excess air and jagged edges and the HPF set around 170Hz to keep any mud out of the lower reaches of the rest of the mix.

It's just direct in apart from that and I monitor through that chain.

The sound you are getting is really incredible for just going direct.

I have an amp, but I'm trying to sell it, and I haven't used it in years. They still make it, it sells new for $2500, which is what I paid for it back in the early 90's. But for some reason, used, even in showroom mint condition like mine is, they are only going for $300 ~ $400. I even left the little inspector tags on the power cord. I just don't get it? So, it sits in the basement collecting dust. No way am I letting it go for $400 bucks.
