I just downloaded and installed the new UAD 8.0 software. Unfortunately, its not working.

First problem: The UAD install puts the files in two places...
     C:\Program Files\Universal Audio\Powered Plugins\UAD-2 Powered Plugins
          and
     C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins\Powered Plugins
In the past, I have copied one of these dir's and put it to my normal VST directory.

Second Problem: the new auth system is all online. You just click the UAD icon and select "authorize" and everything happens over the internet. Now all my UAD plugins are "disabled" and prompt me to go online and authorize them--- which I've now done about a hundred times..... I'm not sure how/where the plugins are authorized.

I've opened a ticket with them already, but has anyone else figured this out?

Found the solution:

1.) Authorize the plugins online via the new method of opening the icon, selecting plugins, hitting "authorize"
2.) Copy them from directory into Cakewalk\VST directory.

Work!

I love a happy ending... I guess I was just plain lucky, I did the auth before moving them, not for any particular reason, just the way it worked out<G>!

Thanks for posting this to save me, and others headaches!

Good to know.

I don't usually update unless they there's a compelling reason for me to do so because of stuff like this.
