Man, you are some kind of fine singer & songwriter.  I'm probably not the first one to mistake you for BB King.  And swear I hear the reincarnation of Paul Butterfield on the back side of that harmonica.  Oh yeah, you play a pretty good guitar too.  I absolutely loved "The Daily Grind".  That's funky, funky great blues and that's coming from a guy who isn't the world's most blues-centered person.   But I can't help but dig it. (The R Crumb stuff is a great touch, too).

Great number.  It really has that B. B. King/Bobby Bland bigger than a combo band sound to it.  Teriffic production and performance and I love that walkin' bass.

I’d like to express my continued thanks to everyone for the great feedback I’ve been receiving on this tune.  

I’ve been a Cakewalk user for over twenty years (starting with Cakewalk for DOS in 1991).  Currently I use SONAR X2, Focusrite Saffire PRO 40 interface, Dell VOSTRO PC with i7 core and 8 GByte RAM 

Although I’ve been a member of this forum for over four years I have never really posted or visited much.  I think that may be about to change.  There are some great writers, musicians and producers that post here and the music I have sampled so far is generally top notch. 

It just amazes me when I hear great piece of music produced by a SOANR user community member (far superior to what mainstream media typically offers up) presented on some obscure YouTube link with maybe 35 hits total.  Meanwhile, “Silly Cat Tricks” gets 1,350,000 hits.  But that’s life and I guess that’s why we’re here. 
 
About the Production: 
 
It took two months to produce “Do You Like The Boy”.  I wrote and created a very complete demo using SONAR, stock synths, my own mediocre voice and a bit of guitar help from a friend.  (I’m a drummer myself).  I sent the demo to StudioPros and had tracked: drums, bass, piano, sax & horns, guitar, vocals in that order. Each time you get a new track for approval it sits up high on a very rough collective mix.  With a 48-hour turn-around between tracks, that process took about two weeks.

StudioPros are great at tracking and take direction quite well.  Where they fall down a bit is on mixing. The final mix they sent me was completely unacceptable.  However, I expected that and I don’t blame them.  For me, mixing involves hours and hours of editing, time-shifting and tweaking that the engineers at StudioPros would never be able to accomplish in a reasonable time through emails and phone conversations. 
 
One other problem, I had to scratch the background horns they gave me and return to my own synth versions.  No problem really, since the backup horns are not really dominant and set lower in the mix.  They are only there for flavour. The sax solo itself was great though, so that was a keeper.

The players give you a lot to work with, especially that vocalist who came up with those cool background harmonies.  (All edited and remixed and fiddled with by yours truly of course).

Finally I uploaded the mix for mastering at Blackdog Mastering Studio in Florida.  I highly recommend Andy Bartow the engineer and owner.
