Heres my first public posting of a recording in x2.
All views listened to.
Vocals is my thing. Music is a backing tack.

The vocal is well sung.  For a more intimate sound, try backing off some of the reverb-the vocal sound like it wasn't in the same space as the instruments.  Other than that, very nice.

Hi Lynn
cheers for that.
I can do that. Im using Breverb, do can either back off the wet, or adjust the damping etc.
I'll try some options.

Yeah.... I agree, the vocal is too effected. This song is well sung and since you mentioned that the vocals are your thing... let them shine.

On a vocal track I only use EQ, and reverb.  On the EQ... bring out the shine and sparkle. With reverb, generally, my rule of thumb is to set a dark or bright plate and then turn it all the way down...100% dry....then slowly turn it up while the vocal is playing until I can hear the reverb, and then I back it down again slowly until I can NOT hear it. That is where I normally leave it set.

Use as few FX on vox as possible.

Turn the vocals up since they are the star in this song...and from what I can hear, you have a good voice... don't ruin it with FX.... they are not needed.

hey Wildman - yeah great vocals. I echo (pardon the pun) the other comments about the reverb - you only need a teeny bit

OK I have altered the reverb and brought it right down, (maybe too much, i'm not sure).
Same link takes you to the remixed track.

It changes the feel of the song a lot by doing this I thought.

OK link worked that time. Loved this. I get a little choked up when I hear this song because I remember hearing  it in a movie that was a tear jerker.

I didn't hear the first version so I can't compare the two. I think the vocal almost seems to be phasing or chorusing somehow although it came through the mix ok. There still seems to be something amiss with the vocal but I'm not sure what. I also got some faint popping here at my end maybe the result of the upload to soundcloud.

You have a great vocal and the rest of the mix is pretty good. Sometimes with vocals less is more. I also have the tendency to add to many condiments on my vocals. It's probably something minor to correct and it doesn't necessarily break the song.

Better without the reverb but it still sounds like you are doubling the vocals.

Slightly out of sync to each other.....I'd wager they are cloned and nudged..... or possibly a "doubling" plug in.

I would mute all but the best SINGLE vocal track and repost it one more time.

Using multiple tracks for layering or thickening is a tricky procedure... not easy to get it right with out having a phased sound to it....and you really do not want to simply clone a track for proper doubling.... record it fresh for each layer.
