re-done once more as suggested by Guitarhacker.
I cant hear any reverb, although it still goes through the Breverb plug with a low wet level.
I also took off the double effect which was previously there via the VX64 Vocal Strip plug.

good work... Vox reminds me a little of Elvis Costello...

Nice singing ...The vocals need a little compression & reverb to blend with the Instruments.... Try double tracking the vox to get a thicker sound to them or use a doubler on a bus..I would even try singing it in a lower key and blending both tracks together.

hi
thanks to notnat and alkie for your comments.
notnat: it must be my English London accent coming through
alkie: thats really interesting as previous comments suggested that i had too much reverb on, and that i should remove the doubling effect whuch i had on it.i remixed the vocal and re uploaded the track (so you never got to hear it) but im left thinking the same as you now.
The vocal has lost its atmosphere.
I have always been a user of rich reverbs, usually short and thick, as it suits the tone of my voice i feel.

I shall try again to compromise between the two extremes.
Then I will re upload it again.

All good stuff here guys. Very informative and constructive.
What a truly great forum we have.

OK guys here it is.
i have remixed the vocal fx.
If i'm in the right direction now that will be good.
if i'm in the wrong direction then I really need some assistance.
I think it is a little bit better balanced now?

Hi Wildman, yes there are alot of people on this forum that like dry and unnaffected vocals. And that`s thier perogotive...In todays music vocals are effected to give them some life that`s just the way it is....I didn`t read earlier posts but doesn`t matter I would have still come to the same conclusion. Garths vocals were doubled and reverbed with a long room effect.

I think it sounds much better now. I think that effected vocals fit in certain cases and with certain voices and songs. In this case to me the vocals are basically what make the song and so they should come up front well in the mix and not sound phased overly chorused or doubled.

It isn't a sin to double but overdoing any of it can take away from rather than add to a mix. Really nice job and singing here!

Man... that is what I'm talking about...!

1000% improvement..... don't you agree?

Now it sounds like it should sound. That was a quick lesson in getting good sounding vox tracks.

The only thing remaining.... in my opinion is to brighten the vocals a tiny bit using EQ....and since I work mainly in country music, the vocals ...if I was mixing would be just a db or two louder.

In country music.... it's all about the singer and their voice.... that's what bring in the paying fans.
