eko - thank you!  I'll definitely pass that on to Yvonne, too!

Lynn - thanks for the listen and comments!  I appreciate it very much!  I'm using Superior Drummer Music City SDX and the hits came (mostly) from those MIDI loops in that package.  Unfortunately, I "over did" the kick & toms because I was using the backing track live for us to sing it in church.  I've tamed the drums some and will be uploading a new version soon.  thanks again!

Robby - yes, Yvonne should in your left ear (she's the higher voice) and Beverly in the right.  I'll pass that on to her!  And I appreciate very much your comments about my vocals.  I know you've been one of my biggest critics in the past, but that's a good thing because it drives me to do better!

As far as the bass.....yeah, I have a bass and I have been intending to learn it.  but I've not spent enough time on it.    I will try to get to it and I appreciate the nudging!  I've just been working a lot lately and life has been rough lately too, so it's been all I can do just to get a little vocal and piano practice in occassionally.

I also have an acoustic that I intentions of learning as well...  cest le vie!

thank you very much for the encouragement and comments!  I appreciate it!

I'm working on a new mix.  making the changes I am you'd think would not change the mix that much, but it actually changes it drastically and I have to compensate!  thanks again!  I'll get back to the rest of you soon!

Janet - thanks so much!  I appreciate you listening and your feedback!  (and of course I always love the compliments on my vocals!!!)

Dave - thanks so much!  I appreciate it!

Danny - I very much appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to listen and write out a good crit.  I've actually changed quite a bit of stuff since you listened, part of it based on what you've said and part of it based on the fact that I forgot to add my "mastering" plugins to it (DOH!).

on the velocity of the piano - you're dead on!  and actually I recorded it that way (I did play it on my digital piano).  the reason I had played it that way was some of the same reason the drums were loud ealier (well, that was part of the reason the drums were loud).  originally when practicing this song, it was just the 3 of us and my piano, so the piano had to be the rhythm section as well as the accompaniment, so I intentionally played it all pretty even (and hard) so that the girls would be able to hear their timing cues.

long story, I know.  but bottom line, I've gone back and edited it and added some dynamics to the velocities.

I changed the EQ on the kick and brought it down a little in the mix as well as bringing all of the drums down some.

thanks so much for the great compliments and comments Danny!  Always appreciate it!

Ah I like long stories Reece....I share enough with you and everyone else. LOL! I had a feeling there was a reason for some of those velocities. I've done that myself in a few instances when I've just programmed something instead of played it in real time.

New mix sounds a lot better. I gotta ask though before I continue....did you by chance forget to remove ARC on this before exporting? It's got a strange sound to it that I've heard before when I've forgotten to remove ARC. Any chance of that?

This is way better though. I'd like to hear a little something on your voice effect wise, but that of course is subjective. It just sounds a little dry compared to your wife who I think has a good effect on her voice.

Good job on the changes. By the way, have you ever tried the CAL files for varied velocity? They really work incredibly well in situations like this. Of course on certain intimate sections, you will have to adjust velocities individually depending on what you want, but the vary velocity CAL is awesome when you get the right lowest velocity/highest velocity combo going on. Really nice job Reece...everything is coming along nicely with your skills. :)

Nice! Very inspiring lyrics. I was thinking of adding a shaker to give the song a bit more speed, sort of like Jars of Clay first CD.

Philz - thanks my man!!  I appreciate it very much!

Marcus - thanks for the listen and comments!  I appreciate it very much!

Michael - thank you sir!  I appreciate your comments (here and there! )

Danny - thanks again for your help!  I'm working on a major rework of this.  I obviously wasn't paying close enough attention when I released it thinking it was ready!    I'll post a complete homey makeover when I'm done!  thanks again!

Vicente - thanks so much for stopping by and listening and the comments!  I'll consider adding a shaker - I'm reworking the drums completely at this point, so I might just do that!  thanks again!

I've taken the song down for public for now while I rework it!  I'll post it again when I get 'er done!  thanks everyone!  this has been a big wake up call for me not to be lazy with the mix!
