Seeking words of wisdom to migrate from Vista to Windows 7. I have been using SONAR 6 (obsolete now) and worried about losing "projects" upon moving from obsolete VISTA to Windows 7.  Of course my projects are "backed-up on external hard drive as well as some saved to flash drive. My SONAR version 6 was a download (lieu of a disc) and I see that it still remains in digital locker MY ACCOUNT as well as STUDIO INSTRUMENTS and MP3-encoder. (I do own a data transfer cable). My projects are simple - saved as CWP. SONAR 6 is actually more powerful than my needs but I wish to continue using it because its familiar. Will I be compelled to upgrade to a newer version? I would much appreciate thoughts, even abbreviated, on the "process".   INSIST ON LIVE MUSIC signed . . . .  edirol

The operating system isn't relevant to the viability of your .cwp files. They should work fine.

Thanks for words of comfort. I visited your site. Beautiful soft jazz compositions. Well done!

The big question here is, were your projects saved using "Per Project" audio folders, or as a last resort saved as bundle files? Just saving the CWP files themselves as backups does not save or backup any audio files related to your projects.

If not using "Per Project" audio folders, then all of your recorded audio files for all of your projects are going to be all mixed together in the Audio Data folder located inside the Cakewalk Projects folder.
