Many (from The Coffee House) may remember this as spacey's (Michael) idea to create a song whereby all the participants only know the basic structure of the song and can contribute any part they wish. James Yoyo was to produce this piece (tentatively titled: Spockpit's Revenge).

After life got in the way for James and a few of the The Coffee House Band members had realized that they had contributed parts for the song I asked James if he would mind if I ran with the song in a much more stripped down way. He graciously said yes.

I submit my advance apologies to all that contributed. As I began the project and assembled The CHB submissions, it was clear that the song had a voice with what was there and so I did not ask James for all the other submissions. Again to all, I apologize for not attempting to incorporate all of the submissions into this mix.

Footnote: Originally Phil did the vocals but felt that the song would be better served with the vocal talents of Robby. Robby went the extra mile and also provided some of his excellent keyboard skills.

The players are:

Robby Robbins - Vocals, organ and piano
Spacey (Michael) - Acoustic guitars
SteveStrummerUK - Electric guitar
Ohgrant -Guitar, harp
Ed "Bapu" Kocol - Bass, drum programming/sequencing
Jason "Qoqol" Kocol - Violin, cello

Composed by Michael Henley, James Yeomans & Phil Doyle

Mix & Mastered  by bapu (with cajoling by The Daniac)

You can hear the Hi-Rez version HERE

Enjoy, and as always comments and suggestions are welcomed.

The Maillard Reaction

This would sound a lot better with a album cover that I could stare at while munching popcorn.

I really like the whole up time feel of this. When the harmonica comes in it all just feels like a big bowl of jelly beans. It just feels right.

I like the harmonies a bunch to.

Thanks for sharing.

best regards,
mike

Liking this very much...it has a nice 'Americana' feel, almost early REM or Wilco. Fine performances from all concerned,l right in the pocket. Nice mix too.

2nd listen now...

@McQ - I'll bring the album cover over on movie night. You have anymore Kettle Korn Salt? Thanks for listening.
@Beagle
@mgh - As there is no steel guitar in the song, we're golden.
@james - 2 listens. Thanks.
@wookiee - Thanks for listening. The kit is Nashville through the first verse. The snare from 1st Chorus on is a combo of Nashville and 2 instances of DKFH Sonor 2 snare. One for the oomph and one for the snap. Under all that is the Nashville side stick (faintly) and the whole kit is all pumped through Magnetic.

Was this done in Sonar X1???

I know I recorded my bass part in X1. Srummy used X1 too. Not sure about Robby. Michael stated below he used X1. Grant is probably a yes too. My son Jason did his parts into my X1c.

All the mixing and mastering was done in X1c.

Bottom line is it's 99.44/100ths percent X1c to be sure.
