I once heard that "overnight success" in Nashville takes about five years.
This is a bit of a play on that and the idea that it takes 10,000 hours to master a subject.

Since I'm a long way off from mastery here, I'm open to all advice on the song, the mix and my hopefully improving vocals.

Here's a link to your song rather than the home page: http://www.soundclick.com...&q=hi&newref=1

I like the the clever satire of this song.  It has a low tech feel that fits the vibe perfectly.  It ought to be a must listen for all aspiring artists in Nashville.

A funny song which gave me some Zappa vibes for some reason. Great work

I also got a good laugh and enjoyed your lyrics tremendously.  A truly fun listen - Lynn, thanks for the corrected link to it.  I also enjoyed the guitar solos in this, and the breaks to chorus seemed reminiscent of a Beatles style - nicely done!         -John

Dang it.  I usually test links and the one time I didn't...

Lynn - Thanks for catching that and posting the right link.

And thanks for the kind words.  Yeah, so long as I keep writing songs that reflect the skill level of person the song is about I should be all set.  ;-)

JD - Thanks for the compliment on the guitar solo.  I put some thought into it and am mostly happy with how it came out.  (Mostly wrote it on the keyboard to break myself of guitar habits.)

Hope to listen to some of your stuff (all of you) this weekend.

{edit} I do think I need to de-ess the verse though.

Yeah, I'm not hearing country here. It feels like two different songs? Between the verse and the chorus.

Pretty cool lyrics...and lots of caffeine too.   :)

Robbie - Honestly I'm not sure what genre to put this in.  I had both a Alan Parsons song (Pyramids) and the Nashville Toontracks drums beats in mind when I started this.  Anyway, I'm open to suggestions on what genre to put it in (except the Trashbin genre).

Janet - Thanks!  Good to hear from you (I've been away).  Funny you mention that.  I thought of ending the song with a simulation of me asking the engineer how long the song was and then saying I needed more coffee (and asking the imaginary band if they wanted any).

Happy Thanksgiving!

nice work Jeffrey!

hope you don't mind critique - but you might want to check your pitch, there are some places which could use some help.
