Well there's 147 seconds I won't get back.
You're mean and you hurt my feelings
You sound like my first 3 girlfriends, one bro-mance, my first wife, and my future x-wife current wife.

Consistency sounds like your strong suit Bub.

The Voice over man is coming to zion. I talked him into driving to zion and trying out my different mics and using my pre amps rather than using the ipad ...so we re do it next week

Hopefully this is ok with lpmike ...God forbid I post a better version

Of course it would be ok with me (not that it has to be anyways).  My post was intended to be honest feedback, based on my little experience with VO's and observations.  I honestly wish him well, and hope you guys get a good demo together.

If my post came off as something different, I apologize.  With only a couple handfuls of advertising gigs under my belt, I am still 'breaking in' myself.  A 'demo' is your first impression, I would never want my friends fasley to tell me "it sounds great!" Then have me submit my bad quality demo to ad agencies, and wonder why I never got a gig.  A demo maybe the most critical time for 'honest feedback'.
Good luck

Dear Mooch:

Here's my serious review/input on this.

It's wayyyy too slow.

You ever actually listen to a radio ad? They speed them up with Reaper or something. The guy could have, and should have fit at least 50 more words in to those voice overs, not including the 20 paragraph disclaimer that they always whisper at the end of the radio ad.

He sounds like he's doing comedy.

He sounds like Alan Alda on Quaalude's.

Do away completely with the saturation. It sounds terrible.

Compression is ok. Set it so you get that 'snap' in his voice. I hear no 'good' compression in this.

High cut, low boost. Whenever I hear a radio ad in the car, the voice is boomy. Very boomy.

Think ... 'that black dude from the Allstate commercials' or the new black guy NBC has announcing for them. I remember when he first started doing their voice-over's. I couldn't understand a word the guy said ... then they changed how they processed his voice and he's much easier to understand now. Seriously ... I pay attention to this things.

You're friends voice 'might' be ok for radio voice-over work, but you really need to record and process him better.

Go buy a $5,000 mic from Guitar Center, do your recordings, take it back and say you didn't like it.

There's more than one way to skin a cat my friend ....

Bub.
