It took a heck of a long time but here's my second tune. It's a metal song and a little hairy and I'm not sure how it's gonna sound on other systems so you might want to turn it down at first...

It's not quite where I want it but I think this is about as good as it's gonna get with my current skill level however I did learn a LOT doing this one. The drums are performed completely with my fingers on my padKontrol with no PRV edits whatsoever (still gotta learn that stuff) through BFD Eco (Platinum Samples Rock Legends kit). The guits are straight through my interface using TH2 Producer (even though I have the full version now I wanted to stick to the Producer to demo it) and all other effects like EQ and compression are included in X2 Producer except for the PC2A leveler which I used minimally on the bass tracks and then on my Master (exported the original project and applied it in a new project from the resulting stereo wave).

It's kind of lost a lot of the oomph now that I'm listening to it on my crappy laptop speakers but whatever... I'm still learning. Hope you guys enjoy it and any suggestions are appreciated. I'll be taking a break for a bit because real life beckons but I wanted to get this up after all my yammering about it. Thanks to all that helped me getting this together. You rock.

CHEERS!!!

Wow I am impressed. Awesome tones your getting with TH2. Is this the full version or just the cakewalk pro version?

Anyway you did a fine job with this project!

Thanks, Marcus. This is the version that comes with X2 because I wanted to showcase it because of that one thread and I only JUST upgraded as you know. I feel I didn't necessarily do the program the justice it deserves because I think over tweaked and messed up my high lead sound (more hi-mid than I wanted) but I'm still learning. Lots of stuff I'd do better with this but it's only my second go through with Sonar and I'm gonna maybe use this on a future album so it will be rerecorded another time. Just happy to get it out there and again thanks. I'm glad you liked it. :-)

Well the guitar tones sound good to me. In fact really good. I have thrown a few practice songs together just to learn the new Sonar as well. even so..... I like your arrangement skills

Great job on the riffage Beeps.

Drums Am a little lost though.

@Marcus... Again, thanks. This was definitely another tester song to get my head wrapped around everything in general. Total crash course I guess. I've never done pad style drums, worked with MIDI, anything cakewalk related aside from the project that preceded this and even basic stuff like busses, compression or panning laws. I've recorded a few things in the past but it was no where near the sophistication level of Sonar and what I attempted here. Very happy to get my hands on some powerful tools finally. Now I just gotta learn how to weild them... lol.

Cheers, buddy.

Cool, bapu. I wasn't sure about the drums. I felt when I tried to get them up in the mix they were overpowering but you know what it's like after listening to something a million times. As far as the bass goes I think the main issue was plugging straight into the interface. I used to get better results through my Line6 but I don't have room to set it up now. New place is coming soon though so I'm gonna be able to yank out all my goodies again. Hooray!

Thanks for checking it out, kind words and insight. :-)

Looking at the waveform on soundcloud too I think this managed to get overcompressed. It's not supposed to look like a solid block like that, is it? I might have gotten a little overzealous on my master file. Maybe I killed the drums there.

This is really good Beepster.

I still don't have anything set up at the new place, so I'm listening on laptop speakers ... but it sounds excellent on those.

That is good to hear, Bub and thank you. As soon as I listened to them on my computer speakers it sounded like poop... but I had just been mastering it on my monitors for a couple hours beforehand. Might have had something to do with it.

Hope you get set up soon. Always a pain that is. I'm about to go through it myself and although I'm looking forward to new digs I am NOT looking forward to being without all my toys during the teardown/setup process. Cheers.
