For real... a fiddle.  Apparently, my daughter was at her boyfriend's house a few days ago and was helping his mom clean out a closet. His mom had a pile for "items to keep" and "items for the trash".   My daughter saw her place a fiddle in the trash pile and asked his mom if she was throwing the fiddle away.... to which his mom said "yes".  Liz grabbed it and took it home knowing my wife has mentioned several times through the years wanting to get and learn how to play the fiddle.
 
My daughter will likely bring it over this weekend.... kinda looking forward to seeing this new instrument.

My daughter came over tonight.... and forgot to bring it.... yeah...what else is new?
 
Then she said.... you gotta put it together.... I said what do you mean by "put it together"?  to which her boyfriend said.... you know..... like assemble the parts and glue it.....
 
It's a kit.  So looks like I have a new project.... whenever it gets here..... Oh yeah...and it needs strings too.....and probably a bow..... and with the way this is going, I'll likely need to find a horse out in a field and pluck it's tail hairs as well...

You got a better deal than I did. My daughters just cost me over $1,500. She doesn't like me calling it a fiddle, though.

If I were you I'd leave the strings off until she can play it properly.
