I'm having fun with them. Trying to learn all about the drawbar stuff. Interesting  for an old guitar player.

Thanks

A couple of tips. The lower octave on each manual is colored black on the interface. These are key switches for different drawbar settings associated with the patch, so you can quickly change the tone. All the preset NKIs have alternate voicings set up this way. You can also automate the drawbar settings in your DAW.

One other cool feature is if you have a sustain pedal attached to you keyboard you can use it to switch the Leslie speed.

Being able to control the drawbars and Leslie speed is a big advantage that VO has over static organ samples.

Good info- Great
Sustain pedal-ahhh
I didn't have a pedal hooked up to the keyboard because I use it mainly to sequence bass and drum tracks.
I have a couple laying around here. sounds cool!

Thanks Glyn-Appreciate it!

I did just get the Vintage Organs (Native Instruments). I like those very much.
Probably "marginal" though :-)

Vintage Organs sounds pretty good straight out of the box, for may purposes you could get away with just using the presets. I like the way you have Hammond, Vox and Farifisa organs in the package. I have most of the NKIs edited now to put the upper manual, lower manual and pedels on different channels rather then the keyboard split you get as default. I have a couple of 61 note keyboards hooked up and can use the sliders on my Cakewalk A800 to control the drawbars on one of the manuals. Unfortunatly the other keyboard is old and does not have any sliders.

While the presets sound pretty good I usually use a DI sound and put it through Melda's Vintage Rotary or XILS Labs LX122 depending on the sound I am after as they are better than NI's rotary in my opinion. Vintage Rotary is particularly good for distorted sounds.

I love NI  Vintage Organs.  They are quite decent.

I like/use NI's The Giant and tend to still use my Kurz K2500 for organ stuff since I know it well. It's amazing that it has been my main keyboard since 1999! SHEESH. That was a good purchase!

I'll have to check out the ST3 organs. I got the xln Addictive Keys collection when it was $29(?), but haven't really worked it into anything yet.

I got that deal too, that was a crazy good deal for AK.
IMO, the AK keys sound vastly better then EZKeys ...YMMV

True, AK are wonderful pianos. Got the Grand and the Electric Grand, sadly not at that great sale price. But love 'm both.

I also have NI's Vintage Organs and although they are decent my go to B3 sound is still NI's B4II!  It's a shame they discontinued that one.

YMMV

B4II was (still is) excelent. The B3 sounds are at least on par with Vintage Organs. The transistor organs in VO give it the edge, I tend to stick with VO because I worry some update will cause what is now very old and unsupported software to stop working. That's probably paranoid, but.

I also use Sampletekk's Tonewheel for really gritty sounds and Sounddust's Hammr for its special character.

GSI's VB3 is also highly recommended, if they had not taken so long to get a 64 bit version out I would have bought it. Now I think I have things well covered with the addition of Melda's vintage rotary Leslie simulator which addresses some of shortcomings of Kontakt's rotary.

EWQL has some pretty good pianos. When I use EZKeys to help create a backing part I usually have it playing one of the Play pianos.

It's true, there are so many pianos it's like drums, there are so many sometimes it's hard to choose

+1 for GSI VB3!  Very convincing sound, great Leslie overdrive, great growl, perfect reverb.. I'm a big fan.  Listen to my SoundClick tracks from my Mis Raices album.  Got the VB3 all over that!
