just downloaded The Endless River and noticed it was labelled "Mastered for ITUNES".
i`m sure it has been discussed here but i cant find anything.
i can understand it if you are downloading 320k mp3`s but as i have my imports set to Apple Lossless,how does it affect playback for FLAC etc,as well.
i could try to A/B playback with the sessions it was taken from but i can`t trust my old ears so i might import both as wavs and have a look at their waveforms-could be interesing.
suffice to say it sounds beautiful already in the buds and when i get back i will run it through the Richters.
so-mastered for itunes?

Apple put out some mastering guidelines a while back that mostly should have been pretty obvious for anyone with a clue. The guidelines were likely not aimed at true professionals (at least I would hope not):

I suspect those words on your music are more just marketing blather rather than anything really meaningful.

The biggest difference I've noticed is that albums mastered for iTunes usually come with a digital booklet...

i noticed that-i guess it`s to compensate for the lack of a cover and bibliography-it`s also a nice surprise to have video occasionally included and is still way cheaper than buying through the local record store and you don`t have to leave home.
if that`s Apple philosopyhy i am okay with it as it really pisses me off when people offer me thumbdrives of music and video which is stolen property but the average mindset just doesn`t get it- someone has to buy the music/video or it just won`t get made.
that`s the downside,apparently,artists get SFA from Apple versus cd sales so that leaves revenue from live performance which is good for music generally.
i AM not buying an IPad though.....
