This song just fell together over past couple of weeks.  It's a song about a song.  Not an original idea, but songs like people, just sort of turn out the way they do, which is always fun because lyricaly and musically they just sort of evolve, at least for me.

Side note: - I'm looking for a good bass preamp/ DI, suggestions welcome.  Thanks to Warren for is input already!

Enjoy, I hope.  -  Daryl

Daryl, this is fabulous.  I feel like I just had a Dire Straits moment.  As always, your arrangement and mix is impeccable, and you are one of the best lyricist around.  I've had much happiness running my bass through my Focusrite Platinum Voicemaster preamp circa 2000 in regard to your inquiry on my song.  I'm guessing that there are quite a few DI's out there that will do you right.  Thank you for that moment of pleasure.

Pull the trigger on that Universal Audio LA-610 ;-)  You won't be disappointed.

This mix is like all of yours, "excellent" That Squire is really singing on this one.

Lynn Thanks for the kind words and advice!  I'm glad you like the lyrics although these are probably far from my most profound...if I have any of those.

Robby Thank you... Squire? Jealously is an ugly thing. .   No the custom Campellone is not on this, just my Telecaster Thinline which I've been having some fun with lately, but I've been over using it.   Thanks for the UA nod, I've looked at that and a couple of others as well,  I'm still looking but trying hard to keep my budget under $2K, but I'm weak so I could end up spending more.  I'm always impressed with your vocal tones.  Do you use that on any instruments (other than mic'ed)?

I play my fretless through it and it's a sweet combo... And Mark (markno999) prefers that I use it for my vocals w/his stuff. i.e., "Dance the night away" and another we're working on.

Lovely song and I don't usually like country the drums are a little bit static I think. More cymbals will do the trick I think.

good stuff Daryl (great name btw) - your songwriting is excellent as always. I agree the cymbals need a slight lift. I would have liked to hear a tad more bass too.

Nice job... Everything fits......... but the drums are a bit " not quite so much" if you know what I mean.

Your tone is killer on both the guitar and vocals.
