I love it... reminds me of my old reel-to-reel-hootenanny-days... what was this recorded with?

Nothing fancy.  We were just out of school.  Most of the mics were Shures.  Probably SM57s & SM58s.  The reel-to-reel was an old Grundig.  I can't remember what kind of mixer it was.  It probably was like your hootenanny days--the majority of it was recorded direct to stereo and then we added thing here and there because the deck could do sound-on-sound or sound-with-sound.  We trashed one or two tracks doing that.  Thanks for listening.

Thanks, Daryl.  It does feel good when people I respect say nice things about something I was involved with.  I just wish I had something more recent to share.

Hey, Jan,

Pretty cool song with that really great vintage 70's vibe!

I love the classic monophonic single note synth solo.  Was that possibly a Moog or an ARP?  I remember being thrilled back in the early 80's when I upgraded my old Yamaha CS-5 to the new CS-15 that had two oscillators that you could detune to create a two note chord on one key.  They were the good old days!

It's really nice to be able to dig up the old stuff and check it out again, isn't it?  I have about a dozen reels of tape from my old Dokorder 7140 4 track and a few from my Fostex Model 80A 8 track, that I've been meaning to try to convert to digital, just to have them preserved.

Great stuff, Jan, thanks for sharing!

Thanks Bob.  That was an Arp Axxe, it's a little brother of the Odyssey.

Not sure that LFO Synth fits with the folk style of the song. I would consider an accordian? Or maybe some strings? And then carry it through to the end in the background and or doing fills.

Thanks, Robbie.  If we recorded it now, we probably would do something like that.

I really enjoyed this.  Glad you are too.  :)

Hootenanny days?  Haven't heard that for ages.
