About wiring mods:

It seems to me that if you connect pickups to a chip that has programmable switching capabilities, you could have almost endless possibilities.
Even more possibilities if use dual mode pickups, or pickups with coil taps.

Ernie Ball/MusicMan came up with something they call the "The Game Changer" a while back that does this.

But many people don't like/need extra options.

I'm like that. I have many guitars and each one is unique. To think that I had one guitar that could sound like
anything has absolutely no appeal to me.
I also know that I disagree with that type of guitar so much I refuse to build them. Not worth my time to be doing something I think is just wrong. To each their own though-we all draw our lines.

Thanks for the link to the gamechanger. It's interesting, but it goes a little bit too far for me. Indeed I don't need all these options.

Maybe if you ride 5 miles to band rehearsal every thursday evening on your bicycle with your guitar in your gigbag on your back and a bag with effectpedals and sheet music on your shoulder, you may see things differently.
I can not bring two unique guitars to band rehearsal.

check this out, if you don't know about it already.....

Bill Lawrence "Q" filter
http://www.wildepickups.com/Q-filter.html
Bill's current filter is an LCR network, sized as a 1" cube, and can be a helpful device for multi-sound capabilities. It is an item Bill has promoted as a player and a designer since the 60's, and he's most famous for using it in the guitar he designed for Gibson back in the 70's -- the L6S. It can simply take the place of the capacitor at the tone control or wired to a push-pull or on-off switch to maintain the standard tone control position while switching to the "Q-Tone".

this is how i have my white strat wired

Has Michael come back yet? I sure hope so, I love his guitar threads. If not, and you are monitoring this Michael....Merry Christmas and I hope you are well. I also really hope that you will return in 2015.

Same here. I'd never comment on one of his "new build" threads but I read them carefully whenever they appeared. It's good to have experts chiming in from time to time- ampfixer is in the same category. Guys who actually make stuff.

I miss Michael too and hope he does decide to return. (And, ol pal, if you'd like to PM me and discuss I'd shore appreciate it). But he's a full grown man capable of making his own decisions and I, for one, respect his decision. YMMV.
