I often work with venues that have recorded live shows, where several individuals may share a mic over the course of the show. Through automation, I can deal with those changes in needed EQ, panning, etc, but currently must rely on a note file or queue sheet for which singer is on which channel for a particular song. Using markers for such things is not an option, in part because the marker marks a point in the performance for ALL tracks. In a mix with 90 tracks, a marker is not appropriate at all for this, especially with shows having short transitions, the markers already overlap in wide views. So, markers don't help here.
What I'm asking for is a way to
highlight a region of the audio view (as you would for a region effect) to apply a text label. The label could appear in the same way it does at the beginning of the audio view where it gives the name of an imported wav file, or, for region effects. Placing the text at the bottom edge of the audio image would keep it separate from the other info. And, even better, a choice of color or shading for that region.
I hope you'll consider it. I would find this VERY helpful. When mixing a two hour show with 2 dozen singers who pass around mics, keeping things straight is a chore. It would be so much simpler with a feature like this.
thanks,
