13 months later.
I estimate that in 2.8 years, I'll be posting pictures of my guitar with absolutely no trace of paint left on it. And hopefully, by then, I'll have replaced the 498's with good old fashioned (chrome) '57.

Nah, but lots of time to play it, and abrasive sweat I suppose... I do like  how it's turning out, but I'd also love a pristine standard red one. :)

Wear do you superimpose all that paint is going?! "Under My Skin"?
 
You and your guitar are becoming one! It is the Pièce de résistance (or as the French say, pjɛs də ʁezistɑ̃s). And it is not futile!
 
So don't panic when you notice your neck growing looonger. It's just part of the process.
