I've heard this song many times by many bands.  This is one of the best.  You were able to keep it familiar, yet make it your own.  Only the best musicians can do that.  A+

Brilliant!  This is one of the 1st songs I learned to play on guitar.  I really like what you did with it, and the mix sounds about perfect to me.  Thanks so much for posting this one!

Totally cool arrangement. Half speed? As always a great performance.

A friend of mine admitted they thought they were always saying " there's a bathroom on the right"
With your verson you can understand the lyrics now.

Awesome man........Love the harmonized guitar part at the beginning.
You should do it before each verse or something. JMO.  Still awesome as is.
That part is just to cool to only play once!

This brings back memories from when you first posted this. I was very impressed then, as I still am today. I must say....There will never be as good a version as this done anywhere, by anyone!

if you've never seen robert plant and jimmy page's "No Quarter" video, well, they do a masterful version of "When the levee breaks" .....

the way they broke it down, it just occurred to me that putting this thing at half speed, was the way to do it the way i heard it.

i mean, i grew up with this song, and always loved how the guitar and drums were so happy and upbeat, and the lyric was all about death and destruction!!

hehehe

so, i knicked the drum idea from that version of 'levee', and once i did that, it literally fell together in about 10 minutes.

i added the acoustic intro with the electric slide, to kind of introduce the song without giving it away, you're not sure what it is til the lyric comes in, and when it does, everyone who knows the song instantly gets it.

anyway, that was the idea.
heh

thanks for 'getting it'
