  • Dammit, I'm addicted to a smartphone game again :(

I got hopelessly addicted to this game last year and didn't stop until I'd finished all of the hundreds of levels (including all of the available add-on level packs). Stupidly, I launched the thing during an idle moment the other day and am now hopelessly addicted again, redoing all the levels I've done before. I hate bleepy shooty fantasy type games but this just grabbed me so hard I was totally helpless. It's called Blendoku and it's all about blending colors smoothly into each other. I had no idea I had such a finely tuned eye when it comes to hue, but apparently I do....

You have been warned....

I was addicted to one of those crystal matching games called Jewels on my tablet a few years ago.  It had a worldwide database of scores with only nine players over 1 million.  Six were in the 1,000,000 range, two in the 2,000,000 range and one was in the 3,000,000's (see below).  I just reset my tablet to sell it and completely forgot to take a picture of where I got to (and was still going! I'm sure I could have racked up a lot more points if I cared to).  I killed the game with a score over 4,700,000!  Below is a picture when I wasn't even half-way to that total...  Oh well!

Meant to add, I guess you could say I have some addiction to the solitaire game Freecell.  I play it whenever I'm sitting in a doctor's office waiting for my mom, when I'm in the restroom or when I want to unwind before going to sleep.  I've got almost 2,500 wins with my quickest being under two minutes (1:55).

Very impressive Craigb! U are terrific at quake 3 arena too aren't you?

U should get onto puzzle league. A very addictive and genius game. Sometimes known as Tetris attack (but very different to Tetris)

Those jewel games are dangerous. Virtually everyone I see gaming on the subway is playing one.

Freecell, I got very addicted to that a few years ago. Have you tried playing with 3 or even 2 cells?

I used to run game servers for Quake 1 and Counter Strike (with occasional others like Team Fortress).  Out of over 340,000 Quake 1 players worldwide I was ranked in the top 25 (looks great on a resume!).  I was also in an online league for Counter Strike where I had one squad of a clan and my friend had another.  We ended the league at #1 and #2 (my team was #1).  We loved beating punk kids half our age (or less).  My server was listed the second most popular game server on the West coast (called n2o's Gas House).

It was fun, but I don't miss it.  I actually prefer first person shooters that you can play by yourself.

I'm sure they're part of the 250 game pack I've got.  I just like knowing that every game IS winnable.  I'm not sure if that's true with only two or three cells...  My longest game went well over an hour but that was a definite exception, the second longest was about 45 minutes.  I doubt I'd stick with a game that long if I knew some couldn't be won.

It's no different from playing any other kind of game or puzzle. You don't have to play while you're walking. The fact that it's on a phone is really of no consequence at all.

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, so it's got a huge screen and I only play when I don't have something more important to do (like walking).
