Not a word of a lie. I'm sitting here at the computer, my Telecaster is on its stand maybe 6ft away, nothing is touching it.....and the D string just sounded. PING it went. Not like something brushed across it lightly, but an actual PLUCK....

I'm mildly nervous.

Sometimes a string can sit just outside of the saddle on the nut. It will slip into position and sound off  as if plucked. It's happened to me a few times. I stretch my strings often and every once in a while they will slip out and on it's own slip back sounding in the process. However most of the time it's a demon, poltergeist, or otherworldly creature out for blood

How boring! I think I prefer the ghostly explanation....being somewhat of a Scrooge I did think for a minute that perhaps I was about to be whisked into the sky to observe Christmases past, present and future.

It's completely normal.

My guitars will often pluck random notes on their own (while I'm playing ).
